Vidushini was born in Kolkata in 1972 and brought up there. She comes from Bihar, the state where Madhubani painting originated. She was born to a family of film distributors and grew up watching Hindi movies. She studied up to tenth standard in Kolkata. Later her parents moved to Patna and this is where she continued her studies with a graduate and post graduate degree in chemistry. After finishing, she went into the teaching profession. When she got married she moved to Delhi, and now she is based in Bangalore. Her association with painting began not so long ago. Although she occasionally painted when she was a child, it was not with an intention to continue professionally. However she was much inspired by the Madhubani art that originated in her home state. She started to paint again after she had her first baby. She stopped teaching when he was born, since she needed time for her son. But at the same time, she wanted to do something that she could do from home. So she started painting. Initially, it was for decorating her own home and making paintings for friends and relatives. Everyone liked her work and encouraged her to pursue it professionally. Though she have not had any formal training, it was not difficult for her take up this art. She has inherited it from her culture. She takes pride in it. Right now she is concentrating on Madhubani paintings only, but one day she would definitely like to venture into different media and themes. She is also associated with A Hundred Hands, an NGO, based out of Bangalore. She has exhibited her Madhubani Paintings at several Art Galleries across India including Genesis Art Gallery, Renaissance Art Gallery, Eka Lifestyle (Bangalore), David Hall Art Gallery, Fort Kochi. Vista, the premier business festival of IIM Bangalore. Eka Lifestyle has also partnered with Vidushini for signature collection of Ganesha. She has been invited by several technology companies in Bangalore to display her work. This includes JP Morgan, Quintiles, ANZ and others. She has been empanelled by the Central Cottage Emporium, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India as an enlisted artist. Fabindia, one of India's largest private platform for products that are made from traditional techniques, skills and hand-based processes, invited Vidushini to give a demo at their store in Bangalore. She have been actively promoting Madhubani Arts on across all social media platforms. Her blog vidushini.blogspot.in has page views of more than 100,000 while the Facebook Group Madhubani Painting has close to 14000 members.
