Rip Gregg Allman

Just got home to hear one of the greatest southern rock singers of all times has passed away. RIP Gregg Allman. Southern Rock will never be the same. :(

What a shame, only 69. It seems as though all the hard living catches up with these guys even after they clean up their act. During my first job I used to spend most of my lunch hours plugging quarters into the juke box at the A&W and listening to the Allman Brothers, among others.

Sad news.
The Allman Brothers were just starting out in 1969 and they spent about 6 weeks in Cincinnati at Ludlow Garage playing every night.....building their body of music, fine tuning their songs and playing together....was so happy to be part of it and to see them succeed in the music industry.

Dang, thought that was the case, the radio was playing a lot of music by him, very sad.

We have lost an incredible of music legends in the last coupe of years. Such talented artists I dated a girl who was named after the Allman Brothers song Melissa when I was younger. My childhood is dying

One of the greatest loves of my life, an incredibly sexy wild man who predictably drank himself to death, nicknamed me Melissa. We were always on the move in those days and it was on a road trip back to the big rez from California when the song came on. He told me that no matter where he was or what he was doing, I'd always be his sweet Melissa. Forever after, that's what he called me. That song punches me in the gut every time I hear it even though he's long dead. Being with him was a raw, rough ride worth every minute.

Not "Southern" to me. Just one of the greatest ever. Period. Gregg / The Allman Brothers were a major force in the history of rock. Truly a huge loss.
