Got A Proxy And Gramdominator-time To Boost Instagram Account With Some Help!

SO this is day one of having a proxy server 69 for the year(could have been less with ebates) and GRAMDOMINATOR. I am using it for instagram.

Setup of the PRoxy (which allows you to be anonymous to the Social Media website) was really easy. They have chat available also.

Set up of Gram Dominator was a little confusing,,also chat available to help set up. $79 for the year and I got 10% by asking for it and agreeing to a demo of Tweet dominator.
One has to activate your account by clicking Accounts Mananger on Left and then Add Account on the Details Bar. Their video instruction guides have much to be desired.

My first campaign(its what they call there actions) was to start unfollowing people that are not following me. I had someone help me with it,,Sort of finicky, but works,,

My Second Action(campaign was auto commenting any pics with landscape photograph.

Jon,

This should be interesting. Keep us updated.

Good luck, to sales,

What if all of your new followers are also using tools such as these?

David King

It's all this automating that makes "social" media considerably less than social...or should we call it "fake social".

Bill Swartwout

I'm rather surprised that Instagram allows that in their TOS - especially the auto commenting?

David Bridburg

FB does not, as far as I know. Auto posting to groups in FB will get your account suspended.

Instagram has lots of this. Every time I get a new follow...they unfollow me if I dont follow them back in a few days. Good luck. :)

Adam Jewell

I think it's kind of like artists liking each other's Facebook pages, worthless. I usually block the autocommentersa and sometimes report it. What's the point of social media if you just have a bunch of bots trying to spam each other?

David Bridburg

Note Soosh has over 150k followers, but is following something less than 1500 or 500 people back. That is real. Or at least a sizable part of it is the buying public.

I don't know the details of what you're doing, but it seems a bit black-hattish, no?

Ok guys, No pessimistic comments. SM can be a full time job. We spend countless hours wasting time do this crap. And what does it get us? We don’t know. Maybe a sale or two, we think,

I have spent hundreds of hours on SM and now I’m trying this and sharing the journey. If you don’t agree, keep your comments to yourself. Nobody asked you for your opinion. If this can help a few people great. It might help me. It might not. We will see.

Jon Glaser

Auto commenting thru this might help. Don’t think like an artist, think like a consumer. But. I’m not going to continue the auto commenting on others images. I don’t want to interact with photography. I want to interact with consumers and buyers.

Bill, instagram doesn’t allow this stuff but a proxy keeps me hidden. They don’t want multiple accounts from same IP address doing this stuff.

David, SM is crap and is a waste of time. It’s not how people should interact. There is nothing social about it. I’m tired of the time we spend trying to reach new customers.maybe this will help. We will see🙏

"Ok guys, No pessimistic comments. SM can be a full time job. We spend countless hours wasting time do this crap. And what does it get us? We don’t know. Maybe a sale or two, we think"

People using bots and automating their accounts devaluate other posts on social media. Because automation will lead to more posts and more crap, it also causes other people to need to waste more "hours on this crap".

"I have spent hundreds of hours on SM and now I’m trying this and sharing the journey. If you don’t agree, keep your comments to yourself. Nobody asked you for your opinion. If this can help a few people great. It might help me. It might not. We will see."

I do not agree and since you feel it is necessary to share this kind of crap with other people, I feel entitled to respond and disapprove. You did not ask for my opinion, well you get it anyway. You are killing social media and make me have to spend more time, so please stop automating and botting. There is a reason Instagram does not like it and bans people for this kind of stuff.

Andddddd roll it back to respectful chat.

Jon, respectfully, I agree with Tim to a certain extent. But it's your decision. Let us know how this works out for you. Personally I can see that money better spent elsewhere.

Well, I'll just respectfully point out that this post is in violation of the Contributors Terms of Use (point iii about spamming and point iv about activities or conduct that is abusive):

And I did say please :)

The winner's circle would be mighty crowded if it were just a matter of buying the right camera, the right printer or the right software.

I recommend this fun book by Marc Ecko about building a personal brand around authenticity -

Wellll, proxy in this case, I believe, is legal. It's only illegal if streaming.

Also auto posting is legal.

So the thread is not talking illegally.

Also, Jon, do not sign into PayPal using one or they will ban you. On the spot.

I was curious so I checked Instagram's terms of use and found this in it

15. You must not create accounts with the Service through unauthorized means, including but not limited to, by using an automated device, script, bot, spider, crawler or scraper.

Just an FYI if you are caught your account might be suspended or deleted by them.

Jon is 100 percent right, thats how it is weather you like it or not. Its like one photographer screaming at the art show "that guys images look better because he uses photoshop. Ever hear that one.

David, you don't actually think soosh did that organically do you. Its just the way people think on social media. If your not famous, others will think your the best at what you do, depending on how many followers you have. Its just how things are perceived on social media. Most don't care about the quality of your work, they care more about how popular they think you are. If you know your work is better than most of them, why not jump on the bandwagon and crush the competition that has bad photos.

Edward, yes most big followings that were not already famous used this. Its nothing new on Instagram

Mike Koenig, lol, they are setup to unfollow you within 3 days after you follow them as well. Makes you look more important that way, like soosh.

David Bridburg

Yes I do think it was organic. Totally.

Her work is extremely compelling. I think that is her success. It is also why she has the book deal.

The bottom line if any of us can get 150k followers none of them need to be buyers. Soosh has many of them buying. That is not automated at all.

In fact if she automated that she could have her account suspended, what a foolish thing that would be.

Dave

Kevin OCONNELL

lol Dave, okay

David Bridburg

Kevin,

You are mocking me when you are wrong. Think about that.

Dave

Addition Soosh is not in any popularity contest. 150k viewers of a US TV program means cancellation of the program. You need millions of viewers for a TV show to run.

Kevin OCONNELL

okay Dave I guess you are right because you say so. Good enough

Jon, can you explain the pros of this so I can decide if I want to go this route.

I know that there is some problem with who follows who and I don't necessarily care if I'm following someone and they don't follow me back, however, what benefit does this gadget have? I'm curious and not judgmental in any way. I know there has to be a benefit or you wouldn't do it.

If Jon doesn't come back and others are using this, can you explain the pros to me better? Thanks. I don't care about the down side.

Okay, I just read Kevin's post about popularity. I get it sort of. If you have followers, you look important, right? And if no followers, you are not important.

One time my dad said to me, "wow, you are getting quite the following." I had no clue what he was talking about.

Do some of you pay to have bot followers? Is there a package to pay for say a million followers? That would be a great product for some of you. lol.

GA works just fine if you know how to use it and do so properly

Floyd Snyder

Ah... Abbie, with all due respect.... I think the people at Web.com know how to use GA.

Well, its good for FAA to have thousands of people doing advertising that is 100 times more likely to benefit FAA than the people spending their time and money that are doing the advertising. I just think that can be improved to the benefit of all or at least a whole lot more of the people that do understand advertising and how decent stats would help.

Those that don't know how to use that data that Dan alluded to, will figure it out pretty fast.

When you can see from what SM platform the majority of your sales (not visits) are coming from, that is useful information.

I just check GA and for one period of time where I made 7 sales, they are telling me that I only had 5 visits. That is because they are not seeing the hits to the individual pages. GA does not tell even part of the story.

But we really don't need to beat this to death. I have resigned myself the fact that nothing is likely to change for the small sellers here.

There is an old saying that says it is better to make good business better than it is to make bad business good. That saying has been around for a long time and I am not saying FAA is considering any seller or any business bad.

But it is much easier to sign up a Conde Nast or Getty Images or find the next Soosh that may still be out there. These people generate a lot of sales.

So I don't really fault Sean for doing what he is doing. It's just smart business.

Joy McKenzie

I just unfollowed someone here on FAA because she (no one on this thread...she's obviously very busy setting up tweets) tweeted 10 of her paintings/prints from FAA in less than an hour. I just found seeing all those For Sale tweets, one after the other, rude and clogging up my feed. And I'll do it again.

Is there anyone else on here who knows their followers, and people they follow? Maybe I'm an idiot, but I get 7-10 new followers a day, and I check each of them out, and follow back, like tweets, sometimes retweet IF they are someone I want to engage with. Twitter is an adventure for me, not work :) I really feel automated tweets and automated comments now, are depersonalizing Twitter. I stick around people who provide good info, make me laugh, intro me to new music and art I like, and who make twitter fun, not boring :) But I do get a small stream DAILY of new followers...real people. I don't think I've ever had large numbers of people unfollow me.

Abbie Shores

Joy

I always check out people who follow me. I have unfollowed a lot of people from here for that very reason you mentioned there

Joy McKenzie

Abbie, that is heartening to know! :) I will not stay on a SM outlet that is all work and no fun. And I know how much I dislike automated tweets, posts, and now comments (yikes!)...I feel sure there are many who would hate seeing that from me as well. And that is just not me to begin with.

I don't follow strictly political people either. I let one person slide because she is a good friend of 30+ years :) and we agree on just about everything else.

Floyd Snyder

With rare exceptions, I do not follow anyone from FAA on Twitter or FB.

The exception being if we have something other than art in common to talk about.

Yo Pedro, Im using the proxy server just to be safe right now. Instagram doesnt like any type of automation. They limit everything there. You can only follow a certain amount of people at a time and 7500 is the max to follow. Right now i am trying to unfollow those that dont follow back. and follow those that are looking for art. I also am following some others users followers. ANd auto liking pictures..My comments are just a smiley face right now..I could get banned for this possibly with out the proxy..just trying to be safe while I experiment with the program..

proxy server was 60 for the year,,,

David Bridburg

Joy,

Ditto. I gave up my Twitter app over two years ago. There was no point to it. I have joined a lot of FB groups, but now I just post to the two biggest occasionally.

Getting a real following takes time. Getting anyone to shake hands so to speak becomes more and more meaningless if all you do is shake hands repeatedly. Might as well be a little old man who just nods in the corner at that rate.

Gram Dominator Update, still cant figure out how to comment without repeating so I paused that function..stuck at 7500 followers until program unfollows more dead weight,,

Regarding stats / Google Analytics (GA): Abbie is 100% right, GA works like a charm and gives you TONS of stats. But ONLY on your Artist Website (or Premium website or whatever it is called).

GA does NOT work here:
https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/matthias-hauser.html
https://pixels.com/profiles/matthias-hauser.html

GA works GREAT here:
https://matthias-hauser.pixels.com/

I can see from which sites visitors are coming to my Artist Website. I can see how long they are staying and what they are doing. With a little customization I'm able to even see things like shopping cart adds. This is just a fact, I really don't know why some of you do not believe it :-)

Here is just one example what can be seen with GA on the Artist Website:

Matthias Hauser Fotografie: Sonstiges für Blog und Website &emdash;

1: This is a standard report. You can find it under Aquisition, All Traffic, Referrals. Only customization are the shopping cart adds.
2: This is the exact pin the visitor came from
3: I do not even have to copy and paste the link. By clicking on this symbol it leads me to the pin on Pinterest :-)

There is much more. I am by far no GA expert (yet) but I can assure you: it is gold.

Matthias, I've given up with stressing the GA. If they don't know how to use it and are not willing to be told, so be it.

I use it and it is fabulous. But some here just refuse to actually learn it. They want pretty colours and pie charts apparently.

And other people always know FAR more than I do, it seems.

Update: I have used gramdominator to remove about 800-900 figuring in people. The program is definitely quirky because some actions are not working but they are set up the exactly the same other than the time the action or campaign is supposed to take place. I have three other actions to like users based upon keywords and one action to follow the follows of one power user. Since starting this I have gained 300 followers thats including a couple days trying to figure this program out..

Is it possible to find non-followers on IG without using GramDominator?

YoPedro, I use the free version of Followers Assistant app from my phone on both of my accounts. It is manual but I like it to unfollow the ones who just follow then get rid of you fast .... simple and work smooth ;)

If you search for it it has a simple blue icon with a black head profile silhouette...

I think some people - maybe a lot of people - get all lost in the numbers and graphics; yet forget about the people.

But then I take pictures of life and couldn't create an infographic to save my life.

To be honest, when I see an infographic, I click the back button.

Funny enough, I get at least one e-mail a week about why we should publish a great infographic on Travel Notes.

As for follows....

I never check out who follows me..... and never follow anyone back... anywhere.

I find and follow what interests me and don't care whether they worry about what I'm up to or not.

If I want to be social, I give my friends a call and we go down the pub.
