Tax Refund

I believe the majority of art buyers will buy art from their Tax Refund. Happens to me every year seems like.

It has been several years since I have gotten a tax refund. I see signs that say up to $3k or $2.5k refunds now! really people have over paid their taxes that much?

Tax refund? What's that?

Roy, yes! People with real jobs and real paychecks! Their taxes are taken out and often refunded based on their exemptions and deductions.
I never understood why the government doesn't pay any interest on the overage that they've held onto....but, oh well...

i'd like that to be true, but i found last year i didn't get a jump in sales.

Roy, most times when you see those signs, it's just a gimmick to get people to let them do their taxes. Thinking they are going to find them a big fat refund. But yes, some people do get big refunds. When I was working, I always claimed 0 and had them take out extra so I could get a big refund at the end of the year. I found that was the easiest way for me to save money up for some "toy" that I wanted. If I got it in my check each week, it would be spent on other things.

Ha. Refund - I consider that as loaning the government my money and I always find it fascinating when I see ads asking me what I'm going to spend my refund on. I always seem to owe them, apart from the time the IRS audited me and then gave me some money back (ironically, just enough to pay my accountant for managing the audit!)

When I had a business, my father did my taxes,,he overpaid all the time..forced savings and a HUGE check every April.I miss him and that check!

Rather than have a 0% savings account with the IRS I have that money (and then some) go into a 401K.

Me invest in a coffee mug or greeting card. What return will I get , Rich?

I always overpaid and a Hugh check every April. Claim O.

Last year March and April were big months for me. Hope that trend continues. Things have suddenly gotten very quiet for me the past week.

Well I will certainly be buying professional frame jobs from my own tax refund for my new gallery.

Things have been very quiet lately, Rick B. We'll see if this trend continues. Ofcourse Rich F. wants me to send him a mug! Lol.

Congrats Lisa, on your new gallery!

I use my money all year rather than letting it sit in a government account drawing 0% interest. Have not had a tax refund in over 40 years. Having said that there are many who get their refunds and tend to spend them fairly quick. I do benefit from that on the furniture I make but so far have not seen much difference on the art/photography end of things at this time of year.
