Could Ai Be Creative?

World's first TV advert was scripted entirely by AI (IBM Watson). That advertisement was created for Lexus car. - https://www.futuretimeline.net/blog/2018/11/21.htm

What do you think - Is this ad a creative one?

Here is what is worrisome for me. - Not only AI being creative. Even more worrisome is that AI tapped into our most primal psychological emotion - Fear! That was successfully done without a single word being spoken in the entire ad.

Nothing to fear about AI but the evil humans that program AI. Lol!

Digital artist have been dependent on the primordial AI ooze for years!

A quote from your link regarding the ad:

"This world-first collaboration between artificial intelligence and a renowned craftsman aimed to test the boundaries of how humans and machines can work together in harmony – exploring the importance of intuition in the relationship between the two"

A Collaboration.

That ad made no sense.

That was not a tow truck, that sort of tow truck reel would have left the car tires flat, but not burned out. It would not have been electric. That sort of truck does not have that sort of cable.

Oh well, I am not a believer. I just know a little history about hysteria from the 1960s, the transistor age. Everything was supposed to have transistors. Never ended up that way.

A lot of what is going on is way overkill. A total waste and yet we are nowhere near the sentient machine.

Umm, a computer CPU has something like 700,000,000 transistors...

Hi Warren... re:challenge/new eyes that's always been a given with me :)

Glad to know you've broken free of the tunnel.

Ever onward.... here's a wee animation that sums (some of) it all up for me: Tangential Musing

Ed,

It is in the billions not millions.

Has made very little difference.

Addition: Ed something to chew on: "100 trillion Minimum number of neural connections, or synapses, in the human brain. That is at least 1,000 times the number of stars in our galaxy. British researchers reported in December that genes involved in the workings of synapses account for about 7 percent of our genome.May 15, 2011"

David,

>we are nowhere near the sentient machine

Intelligence and sentience come together only in humans (organic life). AI (non-organic life) could be intelligent without being sentient .

AI could beat humans in being much more intelligent without being sentient.

An estimate time frame, when AI will be at least a billion times smarter than a whole humankind combined, is around 2045.
That is a prediction from Ray Kurzweil. Ray is a famed scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, author, futurist and a director of engineering at Google focused on machine learning and language processing. He published several books for general public, which include many predictions. It was found over time that so far his predictions are over 80 percent accurate.

I should think duplicate Al s collaborating with other of their same genome could make it there a lot quicker.

Yeah, there's nothing to fear from A.I... yet. It will not always be that way.

Digital artist are using the creativity of countless engineers and computer scientists through a culmination of years of development to produce forms of A.I. in their artwork. The truth being said, artist assume credit for the creativity that for the most part is not theirs to claim. It is a cooperative effort between the artist and the A.I. whereas the A.I. is the manifestation of its human's creativity. By proxy, the said engineers and computer scientists have as much if not more claim on any art produced using their A.I.(digital software plus computer hardware).
Take away said A.I. (digital software plus computer hardware), many of these "artist" may not be artist at all.
