Buongiorno means good morning in Italian and in my experience there is nothing quite like a cappuccino to start your day. Even better if that coffee is accompanied by a cornetto con marmellata - a yummy croissant filled with jam. My favourites are the ones filled with apricot jam as shown here.
Then again, perhaps the Swedes have a better view of it with the concept of Fika..
Too many people just throw a coffee down their throat whilst walking or driving.
Coffee time is something to look forward to and to use as a period of enjoyment, whether chatting with friends or reflecting alone.
I really love drinking from these frosted square cups. Thought they make an attractive piece of art as well. This image is from my "kitchen art" collection. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, stop by and I'll pour you a cup!
I have never understood the appeal of coffee, ... the habit of drinking coffee, ... the need to be glued to a coffee cup, ... the seeming life dependency on coffee that so many people seem to have. ... Am I missing critical genetic information that disables me from worshiping this drink the way so many other people do? ... I am coffee challenged, for sure.
Here's one of my favorites - four men who apparently worked together in the kitchen of a local restaurant, taking a break in the alley behind the establishment. I don't have many images in both black and white and color, but this one I do. Posting the BW, though, as it's my favorite.
And here's another black and white, also taken locally, but this time inside a cafe during off hours. The establishment was nearly empty of customers and I had permission to take pictures of the wonderful vintage counter area you see here. At the end of the "shoot", I asked the manager if he would pose at the counter, and he obliged.
Everyone needs a break, and this kitchen worker - maybe the head chef, maybe the dishwasher - is taking his alone, outdoors, where he can relax away from the hurry and bustle and noise around him when he's working.
Only the spoon and coffee relieve the white on white tones of this still life that includes a saucer, cup, and cream pitcher.
