A Question About Ip Address 209.204.186.76

Hi Everyone, when I look at my Vistors page I see at the top o the page this note:

You are currently ignoring visits from IP address: 209.204.186.76 (click here to change)
Your current IP address is: 73.92.40.136

Becuase it says I am ignoring visits from this IP address should I go in a change it?
I have never touch this as I had no idea what I was doing and was not sure how important this was.
Any thoughts?

Thank you so much for your input.

Garry

You must have set it to ignore your own visits when your IP address was 209.204.186.76

You should change it to your current IP if you don't want to count your own visits.

But if on a dynamic IP as most people are it will just need doing again and again

Just leave it as most of us do

I change it as needed because I'm still always tweaking keywords and descriptions and I don't like to skew the visitor totals.

Depends on how often you revisit previously uploaded images.

If you never do it, it doesn't matter.

It would be nice if it updated whenever we logged in from a new IP address...

I change it if I remember to which is not often.

If it did, we would hide the bots....

I change it whenever I notice that I'm getting a ton of visits from me . . . which is not very often - like maybe once a year. I always work from my home desktop, so it stays the same.

That sounds like a way to hide the bots... :-)

ahhhhh...hide the bots...wow, that was a mission I never was able to accomplish so many years ago......so nostalgic!

I don't understand "hide the bots". Are you saying that either ignoring visits from your own IP or not ignoring visits from your own IP will affect whether you see bot visits? Pretty sure I see them regardless.

Yeh, I'm not getting that either. If I log in from a new address, and manually hide that address. How is that different than the system automatically just noticing that I've changed addresses and hiding the new one for me. Clearly it should work the same as it does now, just without the part of me remembering to go to that stat page.

As it is now, it's hiding an address I may not have used in months. That seems worse.

I don't see why any of this matters. I just let it count my visits. Statistically it isn't much, even if I do view my own work often.

Thank you all so much!

If I remember correctly, if your router/modem is set up correctly, the site(s) don't read your computer's IP, it's reading the router/modem IP as that's the only public facing one that should be seen. So it shouldn't change as the ISP router/modem should be a static IP, I think.. it's been a while ;)
