New Here - Please Help

Hello. I was trying to get info on how to sell my art here and then suddenly I have an account and I'm prompted to upload images.

Can someone please explain to me how things work around here for sellers? Or point me to the right place that explains it all.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Norris...I'll try.

Basically this is a POD site or Pay on Demand. A free account permits you to upload 25 images. A paid account lets you upload unlimited images, gives you your own personal site and lets you take advantage of other premium features.

Selling requires that you do your own marketing and advertising. This site is not an agent.

As you do well, which is mostly by sales, you will move up in the internal search.

If you think this is something you are interested in you will find there is a lot more information to be found here in the forum.

Thank you much Val for the info!

Val did a great job of explaining. :) Welcome, Norris! :)

Not to muddy the waters too much but, POD is an acronym for PRINT on demand

I guess my next question is, "How does one market one's self on this site?"

Joy, LOL I knew that. Guess I was thinking you got to pay too :)

Thanks Mike.

Norris, you don't market yourself here. You need to market on social media, the real world, and wherever else you can.

Thanks Val. That's important to know! Hahaha...

In particular don't try to market your work through this forum. A lot of new people make that mistake and then get mad when they're chastised for it. Everyone here is trying to sell their own work and the forum gets clogged up when people post images trying to sell to people who are not likely going to be buyers.

Thanks David. I figured THAT much out on my own. I was born at night, but not last night! lol

Seriously though, thanks for the feedback to you and everyone else so far.

Norris

Stick around. You'll be shocked at how many people don't get that. ;-)

i've known many that tried and just vanished from the site. either they left or what i would assume was an alien encounter.

be sure everything you send has a description so google can find you. and more keywords, try to keep them less generic, like its not just a cat, but what brand of cat is it?

Haha. Your comment Mike reminded me of adverts from M&S here in the UK. "This isn't just a cat, this is a feline of the highest pedigree ready to take anything thrown at it. This is an M&S cat"

That's a good advert if you remember it so clearly. That's what people need to do with their own name.

Definitely. Get that subliminal messaging going :D. Here's an even more cringy one.

Growing up in the North East of England one of the local radio stations used to always play an advert with the Tina Turner song Simply the Best. The company name, South Cleveland Garages, put their name into the song for the advert so it went, 'Simply the best, South Cleveland Garages. Better than all the rest, South Cleveland Garages). It was annoying as hell, but I can't here that song now without mentally adding South Cleveland Garages to the chorus.

Hi Norris ...

I don't think anyone mentioned this specifically, but if you can think of your Fine Art America / Pixels sites as your storefront ... as your internet home base ... that's a helpful mindset. This is where you direct people into your store ... stand on the cosmic sidewalk and flip signs around to get their attention!!! Make sure you read the links that Mike Savad included in one of the earlier posts ... there's gold in them thar words!!!

And welcome!!!

: ))
