In a world of harmony, man shaping the future of our industrial progress, living side by side with the creatures bestowed upon us as guardians to herd and to harvest. Each day bringing new challenges. Each man woman and child doing their part to create a world far better than our forefathers, far more imaginative than the visionaries that came before us, and far braver than those who fought to make and keep this land of the free. Today we have come together to celebrate the future and to pay homage to the mega industries that continues to fuel our lives and to say thanks to those who have sacrificed so much to drive us to where we are today. God Bless America. God Bless the children. And God Bless This Brave New World! -The Chairman

Ironically, I created this composition on Friday the thirteenth. (9-13-13). The graphics were composed using Photoshop Paintbrushes. I was trying to create something atmospheric that could be associated with Halloween as well.

Let's try and have the moon noticeably LARGER than normal please.

A silhouette image of men fishing from an old bridge at Jonas Green Park in Annapolis, Maryland. I digitally added the gradient sky, over-sized moon, and stars for artistic composition. The men are fishing from a portion of an old bridge now used as a fishing pier. One man is dangerously standing on top of the bridge wall. When I saw this from below, I had to capture it. Night fishing is allowed at Jonas Green Park as long as they are actively fishing.

Every year at the beginning of Fall, a very special and strange phenomenon occurs along the Pacific Coast extending from Alaska to Patagonia. Birds of all species fly from the North down the peninsula to the South in search for food and warmer weathers. This migratory route is known to Ornithologists and bird watchers as the Pacific Flyway. Legend has it that on an extraordinarily special Fall night when the moon is in full bloom and the skies are alive with sweeping and powerful clouds reaching into the heavens, a wayward flying pig will appear from the Northern skies and join the migration, having sprouted wings. If you are lucky enough to see this spectacle, make sure you capture it in a photograph because the legend goes on to describe the riches and happiness that befall those who possess such a priceless photo. And if for some reason you didn't have your camera with you on that auspicious night, it is a well known fact that a high quality purchased photograph will be just as rewarding. -W

Enchanted Moon by Brian Wallace

Life in the big house has never been a stroll in the park. You learn to sleep with one eye open and the most you can pray for every night is to see the morning sunrise. Living in the state penitentiary system is an oxymoron, there is no living here, you just do your time and hope you don't die before you get out, that's if you get out. It's Hell on earth. Johnny Cash wrote a song about walking the line in prison, and I'll tell ya, it's not a grocery line and it's no cake walk either. Robert Blake had a catchy jingle in his television show "Baretta", "Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time!" Words to live by. Once you've made it inside the gates, you'll never make it out. The only hope that keeps you going in the joint is looking forward to the memories of the outside in the shadows of the next Full Moon Over Hard Time. -W

In the spirit of Halloween, I digitally produced a silhouette of a wolf howling at the moon.

In folklore, a werewolf or occasionally lycanthrope is a human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf, either purposely or after being placed under a curse or affliction. Early sources for belief in this ability or affliction, called lycanthropy, are Petronius and Gervase of Tilbury.

A growing phenomena as technology gains more control over our lives.

When the moon gets full, it gets heavier, so the trees must hold the moon up from time to time! Base silhouetted image taken in Seaford Delaware at dusk. I added some imagination for artistic enhancement. This includes the moon, flying geese, stars, and comet.

I had my location all planned out for the November 2016 supermoon, the closest full moon since January 1948. Unfortunately as I was scouting out the angles the night before I learned that the pier I planned to shoot from was closed for the season. Plan B worked out better than I could have imagined. The supermoon came into view behind a rooftop balcony with the balcony and bare branches silhouetted against the moon giving it an Asian art feel.

When I created this image, I'd been reading about the flocks of birds that had been found mysteriously dead and dying ... particularly in Arkansas, USA, but actually all around the world ... and wanted to send this little image out into the universe for them.

How sweet dear Lois! Thank you for your entry here and your thoughtful text. I'll join in that cause with this image below...

A silhouette image of the sky at dusk with the moon in the background and silhouetted geese and tree limbs, half with leaves, and half barren. A scattering of stars with perhaps one of the brightest being venus, shine in the dusk of late evening. I digitally added the moon, stars, and geese for artistic enhancement and composition.

"The Flight Of The Snow Geese"

Photography Prints

Thank you, Brian ... your images are glorious ... as is this whole thread!!

The original title of "The Flight Of The Snow Geese" was "So Many Sad Goodbyes" ... and was inspired by the large number of our mutual friends who left a certain website several years ago ... you probably remember the event. I'm pretty sure you were there at the time. It was very upsetting and marked a change in a lot of very dear friendships. Most of the artists and photographers eventually found their way here, thank heavens. But at the time it was very sad. End of an era kind of thing ....

night sky with canada geese and moon by nikolyn mcdonald

I guess geese silhouetted in front of a moon isn't very original and there isn't much way to determine scale . . . but it was fun to put together, anyway, and you'll just have to believe me that though the geese and moon were taken only minutes apart, the moon is considerably enlarged.
