Jc Is A True Gentleman

I'm having a fabulous time at the staff get together. Today I was fortunate to meet our old moderator finally, JC Findley

He is a TRUE gentleman and showed me a bit of Texas out of the city I'm in

We even spoke politics a little and didn't argue lol

It's really fabulous meeting some of you little by little. I just wanted to say thank you to him, and to all you Texans out there, I love your state and want to move here! It's truly wonderful

It's wonderful you are, deservedly, there, Abbie.
Thanks also for the gorgeous photo, two of 'the best' Mods anywhere, anytime.
Say thanks to Sean, too, from me.
Safe journey home......full of fab memories...tell us everything !,lol.

P.S. Sorry about sore feet, sigh. (change shoes, lol,a bit late/advice.)

How wonderful that you all are able to meet us, and yes, he has shown in these forums to be a gentleman. Have fun y'all! God bless.

Thanks X. It's wonderful here. Right in the middle of SXSW

Unfortunately this evening I'm stuck in the hotel as my foot is very painful due to me bringing the wrong shoes for many many miles concrete walking the first day.

I've been suffering so decided to take this evening off from the festivities. But I hear the music and the view is out of this world

Ooh! Lucky you Abbie. Glad you’re having a fabulous time.

Think JC should come back as a mod to help you out. :)

Do you really want to move here??

Hey Abbie and JC,

Great pic.

I certainly liked the Texas attitude of confidence when I was down there. The state is very expansive.

Yes, Jessica. However I won't as my family are back in the UK. But yes, otherwise I would love to move here. The people I've met are fabulous and very giving people.

Some one sent me a box of candy and a dozen roses anonymously. Sounds like something JC would do!
Thanks for being you JC!

So glad you were able to come to the USA, Abbie and so glad you finally got a chance to meet JC !

I also had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of years ago when he lived in the Florida Panhandle. We had a nice lunch and I got to see him in action on a brief photo shoot. It was easy to see why he is such a great photographer and artist.

Buy a pair of new & comfortable sneakers, have a great time and a safe flight back to the UK!

Thanks for the kind words.

It was a pleasure meeting you Abbie.

Great picture of both of you!!! So glad, Abbie, you got to get away and have this trip to the big TX and meet JC in person. He seems to be very much the gentleman. Sorry about the foot, hope it is better and you were able to get back out and enjoy. Y'all have a great time!! Abbie, have a safe trip home!!!

Wow... for a moment I thought she meant the BIG JC!

It was only that little Texas guy JC! Glad you both had a good time. (Nice pic)

Everything in Texas is big though. Been there several times.

Some p r e t t y long highways.

Thanks JC for looking after Abbie a little on her debut to Texas. Since she brought the wrong pair of footwear, maybe you can find her a nice pair made of rattlesnake skin! :)

Thanks everyone. So lucky

JC Findley

I recommended Lucchese boots but you know.

Silly Abbie, traveling without comfortable shoes :D

Glad you are enjoying Austin and braving the SXSW crowds!

BTW, There are some great foot massage places here too :)

i guess your souvenir will be genuine texas boots... and that snake that stowed away in your luggage when you weren't looking.

Glad you got to see one of our most iconic states. In my pre-retirement life I had many visits to Texas. Safe travels home.

It is wonderful to see artists from this community connecting in person! Great pic! Hope your feet are feeling better, Abbie!

Abbie,

Have JC take you to the "Broken Spoke" to do some Texas Two Stepping.

It's great fun

Floyd Snyder

Really cool!

Glad you got to see Texas! The best of the USA as far as I am concerned. I loved the two years I spent there even if it was in the Air Force. Biggest mistake I ever made was not moving back there when I had the chance to work for NASA.

And I can't think of a better tour guide than everyone's favorite snake wrangler.

And yes, please do heed Mike's warning! Being close to St. Patrick's day, you do not want to be hauling any of JC's little buddies back to the "old country"!

JC Findley

Hahahaha.

I brought her to see donkeys instead of snakes. That and let some unseen mountain lions watch us I am sure.

Abbie Shores

HAHA I am meeting another two artists today. Ladies both who I admire.

Janine Riley

I am glad you are having a wonderful time and that you two finally got to spend some time together.
We wouldn't expect JC to be anything less. A Bad arse, but a southern gentleman just the same.

Lol. That was my first thought...…. JC dragging Abbie out in to the bayous . Abbie going through the mire and muck dragging herself by her elbows to sneak up on alligators and wrestle them. Or at the very least - just take their picture like JC does.

Maybe they don't have bayous in TX.

Tumble weeds and rattlesnakes , as he is teaching her to catch them in mid strike.
Next up - roping cattle .

Hope the rest of your trip continues to be just as great.

He had me watching out of the window for Cougars. Then told me that if I could see them it was already too late.

I think I giggled rather too much at just about everything and was a true tourist in even taking photos of the petrol (gas) pumps

JC Findley

Oh, the HAVE everything in Texas Janine. The bayous and swamps were a bit far for though for the limited time we had as they are about 3 hours east of where she is.

Roy Pedersen

I'm visiting some friends in Texas this Summer. I'll have to find out where.

JC Findley

Now the place I shot this was only 15 minutes from her hotel but it was cool out and wasn't sure the sneks would be out. That and Abbie being from the UK and all wasn't sure she would appreciate armed sneks.

Roger Swezey

Abbie,

If your still in Austin tomorrow, you have to go to Maria's Taco Express for brunch.

This is where the locals spend their Sunday Morning.

Great Food, Great LIVE Music (funky Gospel), and a GREAT bunch of people.

You'll be up dancing, despite your sore feet.

It's across the river from downtown Austin.

I'll try to get the address.

Edit:

The address:

2529 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704

:D :D So happy for you, Abbie ... JC IZZ a great guy ... I was lucky enough to meet him myself once ... JC ... remember? The Yellow Turtle (?) something like that ... in Baltimore???

Now, Miss Abbie, you're going to have to come a wee bit closer to the Mid-Atlantic next time!!!

JC Findley

Yupp, I remember. I was just a youngin staring out selling then. I remember someone asking you how you got an eagle at sunrise and you said magic, I cheat. Since then I have done whatever I want to create my vision of how an image should be.

Peggy Collins

"Magic, I cheat"...good answer, Lois! I used to do Christmas cards with various animals wearing a Santa hat and once somebody asked me, in all seriousness, how I got the hat on the black bear.

Michael Hoard

Wow, what a great photo of JC and Abbie, sounds like you had a great time visiting the great state of Texas. I was amazed of the mountain ranges and terrain as I traveled through Texas, it was awesome, I did get the opportunity to visit Marfa, Texas a small artist community in west Texas,

:D

Cheating is FUN!!!!

In all seriousness, it's very freeing, isn't it????

OO JC ... i'll bet you've got some stories to tell about this hot new Boeing mess!!!!!

Abbie ... stop over at Dulles or one of the DC airports on your way home ... I'll dirve over and buy ya a cup of coffee!!!!!!! And maybe a doughnut, too!!!! ; ))

JC Findley

The 737 Max 8 is a good aircraft. Boing did a few things with it that should have been brought to the attention of their customers. That said, I am confident our pilots have the experience and training to deal with anything that happens. As I understand it the first officer in the Lion Air crash had 200 hours total flight time. To put it into perspective the FAA requires 1500 TT to even start right seat in an airline. Our straight civilian time applicants will usually have over 10,000 hours before they can get an interview.

Abbie Shores

Lois, it's Austin to Heathrow... Straight through xx

Suzanne Powers

JC, I know you are smart and you have a plan. Sounds to me it is going quite well, congratulations on your new job! You can't always pick and choose your location when you take on a new job especially working for a big airline. There are only so many of those. I'm so glad you like it. From what I understand Texas didn't experience the economic depression like most of the rest of the country. There would be much to do and see in and around Houston. Maybe I could visit and take a jaunt over to Waco. LOL

You probably like seeing the different snakes there. Rattlers would be more common I would think. Kind of a snake heaven. Of course that's you and not me. You take the photos and we will admire them!

People here don't need to worry about the problem experienced by the inexperienced pilot on that downed flight. As JC said NO ONE gets an interview UNLESS they have 10,000 hours of flight time and of those most are military pilots with jet flight time. Of those interviewed many do not get the civilian job. Only the cream of the crop fly for the big airlines.

JC, you would know the numbers on how many are interviewed and those that actually get the position of pilot. FAA requirements are far lower which no airline carrying that many people would consider less than 10,000 hours. Fortunately we have a large Air Force that produces a lot of pilots. Some go on to work for airlines in other countries.

Oh my, great photo.

Glad you didn't fight over politics!!

Jack and Diane have made Waco into quite the tourist destination. (That's what I call them.) I actually LOVE the show myself as Chip has my personality almost to a T.
