I am new to FAA. I recently posted my work here but if I logout and try to search my work, there are absolutely no results. Even if I use my name for the search.
Just wondering what am I doing wrong here?
I've been here seven years and I still have trouble making sure I click the arrow on the search feature to either search for artist, title or keywords. Make sure you are searching the right thing you are want to search. Keep in mind the web search will only show so many relevant searches and forgive me for not remembering how many. It's a lot so you may be down in the search. Make sure you have your name in the keywords, too.
it takes 24 hours to be seen at all. the search sorts by how well you sell. if you don't sell, you may not be listed right away. the search does rotate people now and then. it may also depend on what you typed.
this only has one keywords ROSES - you need more words. and the word you have is so very common, that you would be in a long line waiting to be seen.
that said, however, you don't seem to be cataloged for some reason, you should ask tech support why.
Joseph, putting your name in the keywords is not a good idea. We have an artist here who's first name is the name of a flower. When you search that flower, all their pictures show up high in the results and their pictures have nothing to do with that flower. In fact, one of their pics is #1 in the search.
Abbie, a little off topic but it does pertain to the search...
In another thread, we talked about the value of the likes, comments, and favorites as far as affecting search ranking.
My question is if one image was to get 1000 likes vs 1000 images getting one like, would that total of 1000 likes count the same? Would the one image's 1000 likes help the artist or just that one image?
i find its easier to list words as i create it or totally after when i'm done. there are two parts of my brain, the freewheeling creative half. and the wordsmith half. and they don't really play well together. its often easier to think of words after your done.
letter g,g,alphabet,child,learning,jungle,tiger,animal,sun,walking,stripes,capital g,orange,blue,lexicon,consonant letter,educational,your name, etc
(hopefully you have the rest of the alphabet)
and while i get mixed messages about putting your name in there, always put your name unless its the name of some flower or location, but that shouldn't be our problem if the search can't sort it out. i forget there is a artist search, new people won't know. they may know your name and that you have a certain kind of art, i always put it.
i've also been putting the title in when i remember, because the search does not do title searches not even in your own store. and i think i'm losing sales because of it. if they can't find the image, they leave.
every time i ask that question, i get a yes and then no and then yes and then no answer. i cant' trust the search to work, so i will do what i know works for me. i can't count on a customer knowing how to use the search or that there is a drop down. most sites don't have a drop down unless they have a used dept.
Rich, like I said above, we have an artist who’s first name is the name of a Flower. If you search that flower, all of their pics show up. Out of all the search results that showed, it was like 1 of every four pics was theirs and had nothing to do with a flower. The #1 result for that flower is a picture of a dog. I can imagine the confusion if a buyer was looking for a picture of this flower and seeing lots of pictures of animals, food and pics of salt shakers and other baking utensils and other objects.
I put my name and my shortened name in every file. That way if they search my name and a subject, they get my images on that subject and maybe some from that other Brad Martin.. I see no negative affect. Most people know me as Brad Martin and I want them to find me if they search that name.
Back to the artist name keyword search thingy I've mentioned before. When I search for "magna carta" I do not get my photo of the Austraian copy of the magna cart. What I get is a husband and wife team with the name magna carta. They now apparently have no images on FAA (last time I did this search, a year or 2 ago, they had images). So a search for "magna carta" will now not display any results. If I search for say "magna carta australia" my photo comes up.
Rich, I have no idea. The person I'm talking about has 1,400+ photos and they are all showing up under the search for this particular flower. I don't know if they put a comma between their first and last name and that is why they are showing up under the search for this flower or if it's just picking up the name of the flower. I put my name in the keywords and when I discovered this, I did some searches to see if my photos were turning up where they weren't supposed to, like a search for Judy Garland. I found out mine were not showing up where they shouldn't be, but I am still in the process of removing my name from my keywords just in case.
Thanks All. For now I am going to include my name everywhere given that I am still not showing up in the artist search results also. I contacted tech support but no reply as of now.
Mike - thank you for the example.I’m going to use the words you suggested!
Roger - no there isn’t. It’s my attempt to combine that artform rather style with the English alphabet. With some letters I’ve shown the obvious connection... with others I’m trying to use the form to connect it with the alphabet. I’ve been very fascinated with Madhubani paintings and wanted to create something new !
Elisabeth, yes I did! I emailed her because I thought maybe it was just somehow picking out their first name and thought this was a glitch. She told me that this person had put their name in the keywords and at that point didn't know what to do about it and I guess nothing was ever done about it.
Just for giggles, I searched "rich franco", as a keyword and got 5300+ results, which is pretty close. I have some images here, not for sale and have no keywords or descriptions. Not sure of any other way to verify this number without name as keyword.....
Rich, I just searched Judy Whitton as a keyword. I only have about 150 photos that I haven't removed my name as a keyword. The results showed 1,297 results which is exactly how many images I have here. So, even if you don't put your name as a keyword, it still finds all your stuff if your name is put in as a keyword.
I uploaded 6 photographs on Saturday and have not seen any show up search. I have all kinds of different combos based on the keywords I used and will come up with 0 results. I have never had this issue before. So I searched by my own name and it came up with the artist search that Abbie just posted an example of and they are missing from there too (it says 317 works available when it should be 323). since it was almost 3 days ago I uploaded those 6, is it normal for there to be that long before they appear in search? I thought it was only 24 hours.
I was going to make a new discussion but I know there have been a lot of search discussions lately and this one seemed relevant to the issue so I put it here. Sorry if I should have posted this elsewhere. Thank you
What is your point? I mentioned that number above. MY POINT is that since 5/11, I actually have 5322 images, 18 of which have been uploaded since 5/11 and waiting for FAA to do it's "overnight" thing and show them as uploaded and searchable......Is this to be the new NORMAL???
Rich, I searched your name out of curiosity and you are correct, none of your work past 05/10 is showing. Same with me. It seems nothing, at least on your profile or mine, posted after 05/10 shows up in search.
NONE of my work or even my profile shows up when I search for it. Whether it’s the keyword search or if I try to look for my self in the artist directory. So people who are not FAA members can see my work only if I share my website link with them (pixels). The only thing I can figure out is since it has not been a week maybe I should try back again later??
Archa, I tried searching for you to by name and got 0 results. I looked at one of your works and it was posted May 11th. Did you post everything on or after that day? Seems to be an issue with things posted on or after that day.. I always read that things should appear after 24 hours but that was 4 days ago and they're not appearing.
The search must be uploaded, the last artwork visible on FAA was uploaded 5 days ago, five. I have dozens of new works that are waiting, uploaded but not visibile, even in my AW if a customer make a search there.
Clearly there is something strange, maybe a problem, because there are months that unfortunately I have to continually ask on the forum to do a refresh of the search engine, which should be automatic. I'm very sorry for this, especially for Abbie, but there's no other way
As a new member over the weekend I’ve noticed the same thing, none of my images (nor myself) coming up in searches - even very specific searches such as ‘moon over Windsor Castle’ where these are all keywords & the title is ‘Harvest Moon over Windsor Castle’...zero results.
Was starting to wonder where I’d gone wrong but as others are seeing the same, perhaps there’s something else causing this?
Searching Joy McKenzie under "Artist" or " Keyword", I get all my 541 images... but, I DO put "joy mckenzie, joy, mckenzie" in every image's keywords. I'll continue doing that too. I did the same for Archa Malhotra, and every search comes up No images found.
I have to say, after being here 7 years, this is the first time I've seen any post stating to NOT put your name in the keywords.
Andrea, I just searched my AW too and searching by keyword, nothing I uploaded in the last 5 days shows up, even things uploaded 4 days ago. So it means the search system has to be updated? Does this happen frequently?
I would just make a new thread on this topic as I am not sure Abbie has seen it - the system seems to need a refresh as nothing after May 10 is appearing in anyone' searches - but I don't want to irk Abbie by opening another thread on this same topic :/
Well if it's helpful, I searched by my own name and now have 318 out of my 324 uploads are showing. 1 of my Saturday uploads now appears in search and 5 are still missing, as well as my upload Tuesday.
