How time flies! 10 years ago, I decided to set up an account here. One year later, I had started to upload my work on FAA. I've received many positive feedback and encouragement, they helps me to create more works. Not only sold many originals and prints, also make and meet some friends through FAA. I've learned many new things relate to art or not art through the thread here. I have introduced many artists become members too :).Can you believe it?
How about you?
Xueling, 10 year is a long time being on an art forum. I am going on my 8th year on FAA and over 20 years total on a variety of internet art forums.
I too have meet many kindred spirits and have worked with about a dozen artists in several artistic endeavors coordinated online and brought together on art forums.
Celebrating 10 years now for me since joining on July 4th in 2009!
Although I do not participate very often in the discussions, I have read and learned many things that have helped and inspired me to keep enjoying this world of art. There are so many talented artists and nice people here. I even got to meet JC when he lived in Florida and Elise Palmigiani in her home city of Lyon, France
I joined in 2011 and was active for about a year then closed my account. I reactivated it when I retired 2 years ago and have been trying to catch up. I am so grateful for the discussion board and the gracious people here that give helpful pointers; I have learned so much here.
Wow, I didn't realize until I looked it up but it has been 8 years since we became members! We have become on-line friends with many fellow artists and even gotten together in person with several for photo shoots, hikes, and fun! We plan to stay Fine Art America/Pixels.com members for life!
Celebrating life, Debra and Dave
10+ years for me........it's home........thanks to you, Xueling, and so many I know, follow, who've followed me.......
.......and, thanks to the Mods..........so much has improved with your guidance....and a few 'no-no's' to me, lol.
Well said, Xueling. I'll be at 10 years this coming February!! I've learned so much, made so many great friends ... FAA is definitely my online home.
And yes, I've brought in several of my photography friends, too. I feel so lucky to have grown up in photography and digital art with many incredibly talented people, and to have maintained the connections over all these years ... and some I've even had the fun of meeting in person!
Definitely the newbie of the thread. I just passed my 6 month mark.
But I absolutely love this site. It inspired me to start painting, get really serious about my photography and marketing, and taught me a lot.
I see no finer assortment of wonderful people on the internet than here and have made some lasting friendships here, a couple of whom I've even gotten to meet in real life and had a great time. FAA has really been a great escape for me through some otherwise mundane and depressing times. I'm so glad to be apart of it and I look forward to being around for years like all you other folks.
Four and a half years for me....... no idea where that time disappeared to!
Aged 55 I’m taking a “career break” from teaching in less than a week. Looking forward to being able to devote more time to my photography and art.
This forum has been a constant source of information, inspiration and entertainment!!
Welcome all the newbies! Have joined FAA long enough, still there are so much to learn in the artists' world through this marketing platform.
Have a wonderful weekend to all the old and new members here!
I joined in the summer of 2012 and I only wish I had joined sooner. I mistakenly thought my exclusive contract with Istock barred me from selling prints here (and I was not the only one.) I had been on some of the very early pods but never made sales. I have to say that I was featured in a book about birding on the internet (birdingonthenet.com) in the early years and I sold and licensed direct because of my willingness to give freely to many galleries.
I made sales in the first month here and thereafter, although I have gone many months with no sales too. I learned a lot here but also shared a lot of stuff I learned from being on other sites. Like how to be seen on Google and how to get in lots of site searches. I have been on many internet forums and most ran their course after a few years. This is by far the forum where I have spent the most time. I did drop out for a while and was just a lurker but I am back. It has gotten a lot better even though some people still annoy me no end. I thank Abbie for keeping this going for so long.
3 years this month. It took me a couple of years to get past that original learning curve only to find I still know nothing but I have learned so much about myself as I have grown with my work. Still learning and still growing and hope I will continue to learn and grow if I can make it to 100 years old.
I could never have learned one thing if it weren't for the multiple talented people in this very forum who are so generous with sharing their knowledge and their hearts. There are times I laugh at them and times I cry for them and times when I bite my tongue and have a quiet prayer that they end their heated discussions with each other before a mod ends it for them and puts them on a time out. How will I learn anything more if they are not allowed to post? I don't ask a lot of questions and I cannot answer any but I watch it all when time allows and it is very comforting to know your are all here ready to help solve issues for all no matter how great or small.
Yes, I never thought I could use one service for such a long time. I never had notice I did create a lot of art, of course I haven't uploaded for sometime. And I'm happy to see that many artists feel or do the same. Happy painting!
8 years for me, and in many ways, it seems like only yesterday. I have grown and learned from so many artists here, both artistically and in business. Had I to do it over again, I would have liked to put up more art much earlier, so all those later images could have the benefit of being long-term search results! ;)
I started to upload my images one year later after I signed being a member. My first sale was my first self-portrait six month later after uploading my images. Still want to know who bought it from Brisbane, Qld Australia?
