Abbie Shore's 1st edit challenge of 2020... "A model glider" over farmland and hills. I brought out the clouds and normal color brightness, contrast etc. Then I copied the glider and moved it to the left side of the image. Then I added a plane and attached a cable from the glider to the plane. I added a "light beams" texture for the sky as well. This is my 2nd entry to the challenge.

Some day there will be a land where all are welcome. All nationalities, religions, and just everything and everyone. All will be welcome, to live together peacefully. Openly sharing their cultures, and mixing it together.

quite a few entries are wrong, and one is a bit questionable. i wonder if there should be a percentage to how much of the original image is used?

I used double the original image. (^_^) Does that earn me extra points?
I cropped out about a third of the top sky, but that still leaves substantially more in excess of the original image.

If there needs to be a certain percentage, it should be specified clearly in the rules. I only used the model glider.
But there are quite a few images which were uploaded before the contest even started ...
i aim for at least 50% of the shot, so you can tell it was from that image, and not just a few random parts. its her contest, but i do wonder if that should be a part of the challenge.

Actually it used to have on the rules that the image must be recognisable as coming from the photo. I'm not sure how that was removed.... In one of my edits no doubt.
I apologise
I've added it back
The point is to edit the photo. Adding, subtracting, changing.... All good. But we must recognise something from the photo in the new edit.
If we do..... All good

I've already deleted around 10 or more images that were not even from the photo
I'll go and look again

Looking good. I'm wrapping up my creation. Will probably post tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing everyone's work. I do see a couple in the contest where it's hard to tell it came from that photo. It would be hard to create a percentage I think. Still, I would think the rule of you should still be able to tell where the image came from should be enough. It amazes me how many don't read.

Created for Edit this 2020 contest this image depicts a geisha woman letting go of her origami creation shaped like a plane. Geisha are Japanese women who entertain through performing the ancient traditions of art, dance and singing, and are distinctively characterized by their wearing of kimono and oshiroi makeup and hair ornaments.
The background was contributed by Abbie Shores where a model airplane is soaring over a plain.

Wow, Roger, your parachutists have clothes on!
Nice work everyone. There are some clever images up there.

You all make this look easy, but as a sometimes digital artist, I know just how much work has gone into some of these edits. Very well done!!

I'm noticing some of you have very small images, not big enough for a print! Don't do what I did and left click on the image for a tiny copy. Follow the instructions Abby gives at the top and be sure to click on the three dots at the upper right corner. You will get a nice large image with lots of print sizes for your gallery.

This was made to show how a lack of creativity is used in a contest. By taking a famous piece of art and recreating it on a background that is suppose to be edited to produce an original work of art. This is not a work of art. It is a sham. I simply took a famous portrait from the internet and put the contest image in the background. I then added a texture with a simple click with a filter. This does not show much of the background and has little to do with the conceptual feeling of the original photograph. Others work very hard and use their creative juices to produce what they feel is an effort towards competing in these contests. Don't let images like this ruin it for all of us.
