Prices Showing Up On Pins

Why are prices now showing up on the FAA artwork and photographs that I pin?

This seems new, and I find that, for me, it takes away from the beauty of the pin. I absolutely love pinning other FAA artists work and promoting them, but I find this a detraction. I'd rather not have the prices there, just if someone wants to see or find out more they can click on the link/photo to go to that piece and artist.

Or am I missing something and there's a way to pin something without the price showing up on top of the artwork?

I think this is a new change, I've never seen it before either. My older pins don't show a price.

That's what I thought, Elisabeth! It kind of jarred me when I started noticing it.

My pins don't show prices unless I add them.

That is odd. I never noticed it either. I'm off to look at my older pins. I don't like that.

Didn't P just make some changes were you could chose to be a business account? Maybe on business accounts they show the price.

Personally I would be fine with and maybe even prefer the price be on any of my images.

Rich pins have been around for a long time. They're kind of inconsistent in how they show up and when, but they're helpful for those of us who want Pinners to know that the work is for sale, and not just a pretty image to pin to a board.

As Christi said - this is way not new. https://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2037192 - here's a post from 5 years ago talking about it!

They are inconsistent and not just from FAA. I have a feeling PInterest's servers don't always pick up the metadata they need for "rich pins" when you pin. And sometimes you'll look back later and they pick it up after the fact.

And I'd rather a viewer know it's for sale. When I share on social media, with a clear link to where people can buy it, I am still frequently asked how/where can I buy this. I'd rather as much as possible was in front of their face because frankly people are kind of blind to prices/purchase buttons anyway I think. It makes sense because ware inundated with offers to buy things all day long.

I really appreciate all the comments and info! I can see the viewpoint of those wanting the pricing on the pin, but then I go back to preferring it not to. I guess it's different strokes for different folks. So, is there some way to not have it show up? Although a couple of you are saying they're inconsistent about showing up.

And, the term rich pin is new to me. What is that?

Jana - Rich pins are just pins with extra information. For products, it's price, availability, etc. But there are other types of rich pins like recipes for example.

This is Pinterest's own explanation of it.

Site owners where the content originates are the ones that decide ultimately whether or not the metadata is there for rich pins.

Thanks Mark, although the link went to a notice that said the page is unavailable. On pinterest I see that I can do a search for rich pins and get more information. Thanks again! : )
