I am now a member of the No Sales Notifications club Yaaaayyyyy!
I received a comment from a kind member of congrats. I did not receive an email notification of the sale.
When I looked into it, I noticed there was more than one sale with no notification.
(And yes, support, I am using gmail, it was not in the spam folder, in fact I have gmail configured to receive all with no tabs... I received NO notification.)
I have seen posts about it over the years, but I didn't think it affected me - until now - so I did not read them.
So I'm reaching out to other members. Is there a solution to this?
Is this an ongoing bug with faa that has not been fixed?
What does one do besides continually check sales?
I must have joined up. Saw the posting, checked. Two sales! Yeah!! I've been a member of the no notification club off and on for years. I had been getting notifications for the last year or so without problem, then recently there have been three sales for which I wasn't notified. Hope I'll be kicked out soon because I really like to get those notices.
No notifications on last 2 sales for me too, and the last 20/30 images uploaded on March 3 are not indexed yet (even if I see that the last uploads on the site are from today, therefore only some images of the past days have not been indexed), so there's an issue with the servers.
It is suggested you can try using Gmail, and/or whitelisting emails from FAA, but the issue very much seems to be the server FAA sends emails from as I get random spurts/dumps of emails. I usually never have problems getting their emails but every so often I do. Like they get stuck in the "outbox" and don't move.
"...but the issue very much seems to be the server FAA ..."
Servers are pretty much as dumb as ashtrays. If you do not tell them to do something, they will just sit there like ashtrays.
They do not make decisions on their own to do something or not do something.
AI has not come to the hosting business yet.
Servers do what computer programs tell them to do. What a server does or does not do is pretty much determined by the program instructing it.
I am just saying the issue appears to be on the FAA end - like their outgoing email server not releasing the emails or something - not the email service providers. I don't claim to know how everything works. But I've had many email providers - Google, Yahoo, Hotmail - and never had an issue receiving one email from any company (even ones spamming me and ignoring my opt-outs), except FAA, from any of them. The only place I have ever had problems getting emails from is here. And I usually do get them all. But sometimes I don't, for like a week or two, and then I will get them all in one batch (like 20, 30 emails), but sometimes I still don't get everything, even if I get a batch.
Ya, same here. Several sales recently (and related comments) and no emails. I normally don't check in, and even less routinely participate in any community boards so I'm glad I caught on and see it's not just my page
i can finally join now. a good sale, no reason to cheer in the mailbox. but i don't wait for congrats comments, i check the sales page every time i log on. its the link that my button goes to. i check it near constantly.
I'm in the club, too. Had a sale on the 20th and never got a notification. Thanks to a couple of members who sent congrats, I learned of the sale. I'll be interested to learn whether this is permanent or just a glitch in the system. Unlike Mike, I DON'T check every day. Since photography is not my main source of income, it's not essential, just nice to know. The biggest reason I like the emails is that I like to post a "Thank You" to the buyer on the image page. I assume when someone buys a piece of art online, they're probably excited to show friends and family what they're waiting to have delivered, and so probably return to the page or send links to it to their friends. If several days go by after the sale, the likelihood of the buyer returning to the page probably declines.
I have received no notification for my last couple of sales, though I used to. I never get any other emails from FAA. I've read all the explanations over the years, but it never makes sense. It doesn't happen with any other group or organization that I'm a part of. I just accept it, though I don't know why.
