Breakfast Doodle

How important time and place is to you to excercise your full creative potential?
Is that a limit we put on our self or that is a natural way the mind works.
I missed my morning routine as I couldn't erase and I didn't find a regular pencil.
So I had to go and buy those items.
But when I came back , my mind was wondering in all different areas and not able to continue with my breakfast doodle . Then I force my self to get a little bit more on that, but drawing in my bed.
Share your thoughts opinion and experience.
This is the image I came up with now.
Edit.
Thanks to Mary Ellen for suggesting to put the wine glass on the left side beside the grapes. Looks more fit that way. So I thiught a piece of cheese and a cat on the right. Also made it like a kittchen and a door on the back, with my parrot painting hang on the wall.

I used to belong to 2 artist workshops that each met once a week. Gone now with Covid 19. That was the best place for me to paint, lots of ideas and feedback. At home, sometimes, there are too many distractions and no good place to set up and work.

Hello Tony! You go ahead. I think it will be more interesting later. We will wait for the continuation.

creativity comes and goes. if you don't do it for a while, it builds up. like a leak in the sink, eventually it over flows and you have to create something. or better example, more of a mike example, its like when you have to pee, but you go and nothing comes out. so you wait, and then eventually your bladder is the size of a watermelon, and you cannot concentrate on anything else, especially when there is a leaking faucet near by... and then its full release, the bowl can bare contain it all and you feel so much better....

that's the creative release. it builds up when your doing other things. then in a burst you have that need to do something. sooner or later it will come out, just like pee. just be sure to catch it.

and while you can force it a bit, the quality will never be quite the same.

Thanks Vladimir for your encouragement.

Mike, thanks for your explanation on how nature's way of creative explosion happens.

you'll find its accurate. just be sure to have a pad and pen ready just in case you get an idea... usually just as you fall asleep, and when your in the shower. the peeing urge is about 2am.

Mike, note pad and pencil is a good idea.
Now my brain blader is already working overtime.
As I started to write this , I came up with more ideas lol.
Behind the fruit ball there is big room , one side wall where a painting of a bird, the other wall I need to hang another painting, and on the floor, two couple dancing Tango.
The fruit ball , wine cheese etc.. are the bar counter. The bartender is behind pouring the wine. Lol
One by one.

if you did it in photoshop, you can make layers for each element including sketches. for most digital art projects as of late, i try to do a quick sketch of what i want and i can add it as a layer so i can move around the ideas. making each sketch a different color. this is where it helps to have a digital pen. or your finger may catch fire if its on the phone and your a quick draw.

best to write all ideas down when you have the urge. just like remembering a good dream, all the details become fuzzy unless you remind yourself what you want.

For now this is going to be in pencil.
Eventually, it will be or I will try to paint that in Oil on canvas.
I know this is an addiction. Lol
For me this is learning ,

just be sure to get a drop cloth so the hotel doesn't yell at you. and an apron so you don't get any on you... though you could also do it naked, that is a thing.

Mike, and others who may have used it.
Can a digital pen works on my Samsung A10, if you know let me know as I like to buy one
Can't do a lot with them, but to do some sketches , it may be easier and faster.

Mike Savad

i don't think so, there is a blue tooth function, you would have to look at the specs at wacom.

you can get a samsung phablet, note - whatever number, those should probably still come with a pen you can use. it comes built in, or at least it did.

Very cool picture, love the creativity! My full potential is best with lots of time and space and either quiet or music. Unwelcomed sounds are distracting and overwhelming. It's the way my mind works as an introvert.

Thanks Mike,
I will have to go and check some stores.

Thanks for the compliment.
I like to be quiet in a spacious area too, to be able to think and be creative.
I am adding a little every day.
Oneday I like to paint that with oil on canvas.
Lots to learn.

Nice continuation, Tony ^_^ Love the little cat and cheese and the addition of the Parrot in the background. Some nice movement in that wine being poured, too!

I used to wait for the urge to draw, but I have been teaching myself to draw *something* every day no matter what. If my mind wanders, I just let it wander (this is how I got a bunch of unfinished stuff on the side that I really should finish and put up....)

There have been times where I just...wasn't into drawing. Just so meh because of a bunch of health issues, so I sat down and just drew random, uncontrolled circles over and over again. And eventually...those circles led to an illustration (also in my to-do pile right now).

I agree with Mike--keep that notebook handy and nearby. Inspiration and creative strike at the darndest times sometimes.

When I finish the painting, I will post both my painting and the photo I am following.

Tony Singarajah

The photo I am following unlike many other smiling and happy face , this one is where she is sad looking down and looking away, tears are almost about to come down or in deep thinking. A sad looking, but I am going to catch that emotions and facial position in my painting rather than doing it on this sketch.
The sketch give me enough boundaries to play with.

How ever I don't need to see another photo of her, I have one and I am following that.

Thanks for everyone.

Oh Mike , you didn't see her in person? lol.
Anyway, what I am looking for now is the kind of paper I need to start using for this oil painting. Thickness, proper size etc.
Not sure at this point I want to go on stretched canvas or not. May be the next one, if this work out good.

Just now, interestingly , as I am having my coffee , and talking to the owner of the cafe, he ask me to put my painting at the cafe when I am finished. He is from England!

I could really use some help.
I would really like and need information on, what kind of paper , thickness and sizes I need to buy for oil painting for portrait.
Also any information on streach canvas.
I Would Much appreciate any help.
Thank you.

I don't have anything new today, but thanks for everyone's comments. I have a lot on my plate to paint now,...will take months I think.
If I do come with somthing new , then I will post it.

What I need to learn more about is, all about art supplies.
If anyone care to comment on that topic 'painting supplies' and what to use for what, that would be good.

Ok, another day of walking and find nothing, a waste of time.
However little doodle during breakfast.
This is not the final paper, I will need to redo the drawing and combine two images.
One I do have a photo.
The other I only have the image in my mind, as I was in a ferry going to Aran island off the cost of Galway in Ireland I have seen the the three dolphins jumping out of water three time like synchronized swimming, I didn't have the camera ready .
Hope to draw and paint that image.
But the waves I have is from Maldives island.
I could make it simple , using 2 colors.
I have Titanium white and Ultra marine Blue.

If I want to bring a little sunset orange... I could add that later on.

This is not the great drawing, but I got the idea, now I need to refine and put everything in proper place and in proper scale.

As always any suggestions welcome.
Thanks

This is not my morning doodle....
I was putting off to start painting Every day I was finding a reason, I need to buy small bottles to mix oil and medium with a squeeze drop cap, that made me waste a few days..
Then I can't paint without an overall so run around and bought that.
- I put Gesso two time on a panel, and ready to paint today. Then I learned about a better primer just for OIL paints...so went to look for that , but they dont have it,
Then another excuse , not good to waste all expensive oil paints on a panel.
So... here I went again to buy stretched canvas....
Now I need to prime the canvas with Gesso....
..
Finaly I said No.... Start on the Panel, it is ready to go....
So that is what did...stop the excuses and start to paint ...

Lot of work for an hour of painting today....it was only 3 dolphins then all of a sudden while I was painting the forth one jumped out from nowhere Lol πŸ€—
Let it dry and will continue tomorrow.

This is just for your Viewing.

Please share your experience on the Very First Day of Oil painting as an adult. How did you feel.

Tony Singarajah

Ok, now I have the exact image in my head. The same one I started, but will keep working with all the details to finish the painting.
It will take some time and paint too lol.
Question 1.
I put gesso on both of the stretched canvas today.
Insted of wasting my paint and time with the panel, I am thinking of restart with stretched canvas. I will use the panel as my testing or practicing area.
Any thoughts would be good.
Thanks

I will leave this for another day, and will close this thread.
The first day painting is not dried so I will start another one in streached canvas, may be I will put another coat of gesso on it now and when that dry in a few hours I will start on that.

No more progressive painting for now.
I will post then when Its finaly finished.

*** I am taking this time to appreciate and acknowledge Vladimir Frolov for his encouragement, his paintings are what intrigue me and make me decide to pick up the paint and brush.
I don't know how far I will go, but for now I am enjoying it very much.
Thanks Vladimir!!

Thanks everyone else for your comments and suggestions.

I love the way Andrew Tischler use proper meaningful words to explain the principles to follow when oil painting.
Using and mixing medium. (Oil + solvent)

if anyone interested in viewing his YouTube videos you can find them, as I dont put any outside links here.

I was watching few other videos of different authors, however, for me Andrew Tischler gives a clear straight on point explanation.

Thanks Vladimir,
Yes, yes , I am practicing, drawing and mixing and painting.
Morning breakfast time is my drwing time, then after I go up to roof near swimming pool area , it is completely open area but I am under the roofed area where I do the mixing and painting.
I am positive, it will come out good, I am a perfectionist, and in this endeavor it is a good thing.
Thank you again for your support.
** On second thought, I am going to keep this post, but not going to post painting process but I may post some morning doodles😊 until finish the painting. **
