Place(s) You Went Or Have Been During The Pandemic

It is not easy for everyone during the pandemic. Just wondering if you've got a chance to go anywhere?
I stayed at home and learned how to cook the dishes we loved about four months, Then felt board, started going outdoors and Plein Air again. Painted outdoors in San Francisco many times and surroundings, California coast nearby and many parks... So far I only had have one day trips, no overnight yet. How about you?

Been making an effort to get out into rural areas once a month or so. Been to western Oklahoma, Menard Texas, Fort Davis Texas, Goliad, Texas, and Uvalde Texas. I feel like I'm missing a trip as well.

Oh, it was Copper Breaks State Park which isn't really anywhere but is within Texas.

The whole summer I made only 5 day trips to the closer beautiful area of Upper Bavaria including the alpine region. I did go by train and often there were less people than I expected. The three festivals a friend of mine organizes (in London, Cologne and Berlin https://www.faithsintune.org/ ) were cancelled very early.

In July I took a road trip- stopped in Cleveland, OH, Iowa City, IA (shot the Bridges of Madison County), Cheyenne, WY, Ketcham, ID, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Minneapolis, MN, and Milwaukee, WI. Stopped at Grand Teton NP, Badlands, NP, explored the Sawtooth Mountains. Awesome trip. Took 2 weeks.

In September, I took a road trip to Colorado, stopping in Ohio, Kansas City, Colorado Springs, Aspen, Ouray, CO, Alamosa, CO, and then back through Kansas City, Columbus, and Pittsburgh. Explored the Rockies, hit Great Sand Dunes National Park. Again, two weeks.

I stayed in AirBnB's, where I used contactless check-in and was able to cook my own meals so as not to go into crowded restaurants. On the road, we got take out and ate in the car or at a rest area. Getting gas? Wore disposable gloves and used hand sanitizer extensively. Masks in stores. Kept our distance. Not as much fun as usual trips. I like eating in local restaurants. Not this time. Walked away from several places that were too crowded.

Took a COVID test after my return from Colorado. Negative. All in all it's been a productive year for me.

During the first lockdown I shielded as advised due to health reasons for a few months.
So obviously didn't go out.

Once lockdown lifted just the fresh air and getting out in the park was uplifting .

Now unfortunately we are starting another lockdown Thursday for another four weeks with lots of restrictions.
So going out again is limited.

But best to be safe.

And to help with the conditions we now face, we have to look forward to the future adventures and can still plan in our minds what we will do and look forward to them when restrictions lifted.

I love the visits to the zoos the monkeys and the tigers best of all, and the beach and interesting museums or just a picnic with my children and five grandchildren running around such fun.

In September, we had a vacation in Turkey. We planned to visit Cyprus. But Cyprus was closed because of the coronavirus. I had to change my plans and relax in Turkey. We enjoyed our time with some consideration for the coronavirus. We flew with a parachute. Our vacation went well. After returning from Turkey, we passed a coronavirus test. All right.

we have places near by but, there are no bathrooms open, so we can't go unless there are. i think we went to a garden and a small park. and now that the leaves sort have changed. and because its a little warmer than normal, we will go to a local park to get fall leaves.

there were museums and such open i think, but i can't go anywhere inside, i don't trust it enough.

otherwise i do what i normally do.... try to take over the world. narf

i just made stuff like i normally do, i just don't have the premium pictures i was hoping i'd have. and now that i have a mask, i may wear it when its really cold, it should help keep my nose warm, if my lenses don't fog up too much. better than a hat because i won't get fuzz in my mouth.

We've been on lots of day hikes in our local area; but, have passed on the annual fall vacation.

After 7 months, we finally went to a local restaurant.

After those initial two months, I went back to a modified way of living my life. I have traveled extensively but only in a car. No public transportation of any kind. I have stayed in motels but don't allow the maid to service the room. I have avoided large cities and opted to be in nature. I eat in my car or motel room and still have not been in a restaurant other than to pick up my food to go. I have been carrying a small cooler with drinks to limit using vending machines and going into convenience stores more than necessary. If I go in a public area, I wear my mask. I don't use gloves but carry a bottle of hand sanitizer on my belt loop for easy access. I think it's easier to keep your distance when you don't know anyone. We have been away from home for the last 10 months with my husband's job and traveling for my photography.

I've been in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee and Maryland.

I am starting to feel a little anxious since this job is ending and we will be making a trip home for a week or two before his next contract. This contract ends the Friday before Thanksgiving. We are so seldom home for a holiday, I'm afraid both of our families are going to make a big deal out of us being there. If I'm going to get COVID, I think this is where it will happen.

I'm a wildlife photographer and artist, and where I go doesn't require people-contact, so I've been going to all my normal places.

As a travel writer, it's kinda difficult to do my job and cave to a lockdown.
No problems. Went where I wanted to. Went where I needed to.
Traveled to Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area in Tennessee. Of course, there were few people there. I managed to find places open.
Traveled with entire family to the "open" state of Florida. Great time!
No problems. No covid.

We love being outdoors and pretty much most of our normal outdoor activities don't involve being close to others or in crowds anyway. So we biked, walked, and hiked a lot which are things we do anyway. We have a travel trailer and things opened up enough here in May to go camping, and all of our usual trips. Ran into some busy trails in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore area and a couple of spots in Door County, WI. We don't do a lot of big festivals anyway, but they did cancel the WI State Fair, which we like but really didn't miss it all that much. Despite some places we went that were busier, we were able to stay away from people and there were no real issues.

I managed to get some good photography in, most of which I'm still working on. Honestly this was probably one of the best summers we've had in a while.

It's hitting 70 most days this week into Monday. Phenomenal for SE Wisconsin in November. We're getting a bike ride in the weekend. Shame the beer gardens are closed for the season...

The furthest I have gone is Sturbridge MA for lunch with the parents, a sister and her husband. We met mid way for lunch.

Sturbridge is very famous for its colonial homes amusement park. I am calling it an amusement park. It has kind of morphed into one.

My parents in 1964 with a movie camera caught my first steps to my grandfather rattling some keys. The filming was at Sturbridge Village, the actual name of the park.

I’ve stayed near home only visiting the Wichita Mountain area, the Chickasaw National Recreation area, and Pop’s along Route 66. I’ve only lived in Oklahoma for just over 2 years so it was good to see some of these places for the first time. They’ve all been outdoors visits with the exception of Pop’s of course.

This isn’t exactly unuasual for me though as far as restricting me much due to the virus, I’ve never really had the time or money to travel anyway.

We went to a couple of local parks early on but my husband is still working so we could only take one "trip" during his vacation time off.

That time was spent in Florida at the beach. My soul is drawn to the water and needed to be refreshed by the sight and sound of the ocean.

Our daughter went to South Carolina. My wife and I took the opportunity to have our first kid free holiday by going to her family’s cabin on a lake on central Maine (near Norway). We flew and, fortunately, had no problems (we also took COVID tests before and after). Our son stayed home and looked after the dogs.

Yes, I drove to all of them. Aside from the trip to Fort Davis I camped on all of them (Ft Davis was too warm for camping sadly) which keeps costs down, and reduces your interaction with people increasing their safety and yours since you may be carrying the virus and not realize it.

We drove all the way across the US during the height of the summer pandemic flare up and during the fires raging throughout the west. We tried to avoid people as much as possible and stay outside. I've always wanted to see Horseshoe Bend, it was some horrific temperature in August, but I went anyways. A woman fainted over and over from the heat. It was beautiful and well worth the heat.

Hey Xueling, my son went to regionals with his school golf team in Pensacola Florida. Fortunately we stayed on the first floor of a hotel that opened direct outside on the bay. I hit the whole room with Lysol before we settled in. That's the only time we sleepover away from our home since last March. We almost always travel in the summer but not this year. The summer of 2019 we went to Europe and Africa. We were planning a trip to Canada the summer 2020 but that got canceled.
