Huge Uptick In Views Today

Is anyone else experiencing a HUGE uptick in views today? I've had over 100,000 views on my images just today. Mind you, I'm not complaining about it. I'm just curious as to why.

I think something's broken - I can't even get in to see Visitors count.

Nope, not here. It's probably just a bot that got stuck on your images for some reason and is hitting the same image(s) repeatedly.

I'm not having any issue viewing visitor stats.

Normal daily count on my stores

Even if it is a malfunction, I'd be willing to take a "big uptick" as sign that I just hit the big-time.

I checked mine and they are plodding along in their normal way.

Oh well.

It happens with the bots. I was on my analytics site one day and I suddenly showed 70 concurrent visitors. I was lucky to get 6 per day at that time, so it was obviously something bot related. They were all out of eastern Europe and some from Canada.

Sometimes a bot gets stuck and hits an image repeatedly, but I never had one do 100,000. Usually, it's more like several hundred.

Not today, but about a week ago I saw hundreds of views from one site., all within a very short time I doubt it's anything real, not even an actual search spider, maybe just a bug or the result of some internal site maintenance. Needless to say it didn't result in any sales.

invasion of bots, but 100k is a lot even for them. i only hate it because it messes up my graph for the week. hard to top 100k. usually i'll get like 10k as a burst. must be a family reunion or something.

I would happily pay money to get those number of 'views' in a day, its not gonna happen though!

things already seen and left unexplained ...

I quit checking views sometime back - they don't mean anything because they seem to be mostly bots - not folks looking at your work to like, comment and buy.

I suggest not looking at view numbers other than perhaps seeing which images rank higher than others. The actual numbers are nothing to fret over. Just get them moving.

I can not see my views either Nikolyn.

Not here.

Odd how that happens. That's why I take the numbers with a pinch of salt. As Ed says, it is useful to see which images are getting relative hits, but other than that I see occasional random upticks too.

Bots are good though because that means google is indexing your stuff. The more that happens, the more likely someone searching for something related to your image will come across your page. At least I think that's how it works. I learned that from the digital course Abbie suggested we all take. I've heard it explained before, but the course really cleared things up.

I check once in a while for local views because they might lead to sales. Other than that it's a display of pure noise IMHO.
