Ms. V,
These are a series of images, maybe ten minutes worth, taken with my Samsung Phone, up at my brother's Lake, Green Pond Lake, in Morris County New Jersey. Since these were taken with my smart phone and not my regular camera, I used an effect, to help the quality of the images, especially any large prints that might be made. I hope you enjoy them, I did and loved that foggy morning.........

'Uncomfortable Company' drawing by James McCormack, Artist
10 of a series
She went to the foot of the stairs to meet the hired killer as he descended, speaking to him briefly and indicating the table with her companions. They seated him opposite the Artist.
"You know why I'm here", he said to the Artist, ignoring everyone else.
"I know," was the answer " It's business. I also know, if you sat down, we can negotiate".
I looked around, suddenly seeing how the pieces were starting to fit together, me, the dame, Mac.

11 of an ongoing film noir story.
'My Thoughts Danced'
The Artist hired me to find the hit man. I found him through Mac, who seemed to be innocent in all this. The dame turned up, also looking for the hit man.
I watched a couple dance, the music speeding up. My thoughts danced, then began to line up.
Mac was a bystander, I was the investigator, she had hardly been sent as well by the Artist. That meant she was in on it, or followed me, or both. I gripped her forearm, out of sight. She felt it and flashed me a piercing look.

An image depiction of a "Ghost Ship". The actual ship used for the image is a picture I took of the historic USS Constellation which is docked at Baltimore's Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. Some of the background as fractal-based and some is mist/fog textures. I added a couple of perched crows as well and converted all to grayscale.
The USS Constellation is a large warship that was commissioned in 1855. The 22-gun sloop was active for 100 years and served in several military conflicts. The vessel also played a central role in ending the foreign slave trade. Slavery was widely practiced well before the United States was founded in 1776.

I took a dead tree silhouette captured at Fort Smallwood Park in Pasadena Maryland around dusk and added a silhouetted female figure at the tree top reaching for the moon. I wanted the figure to be a little surprise by looking like part of the tree silhouette. I extended the image vertically and added a moon with moon glow, some stars, and a comet. I converted this version to grayscale. There is also a color version. Original tree silhouette capture 10-21-19 but this version was processed 4-28-21.

Magnificent Great Grey Owl Black and White
This beautiful great grey owl was photographed in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in the winter, during a year when large numbers of these owls had migrated south in search of food. They are the largest owl species with round heads without ear tufts, piercing yellow eyes, gray brown and white feathers, and a what looks like a bow tie on their necks. This is the black and white version.

Great Egret Black and White
This great white egret was perched on a limb in the marsh and had just shaken out its feathers. The great egret is the symbol of the National Audubon Society, which was formed to protect birds from being hunted for their feathers, which unfortunately was a common practice. Great egrets are large white birds with a long curved neck, yellow bill and black legs. They can be found in wetlands either standing still as in this photo or slowly wading through the water in search of fish. One quick jab of the bill and that fish becomes dinner for the egret. This is a black and white portrait photo of a great egret seen in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

An image of an old abandoned church near Langford Estates on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
You could say I have an affinity for old abandoned structures. Thinking back on it now, I feel rather stupid, taking the chances I did, going through these decrepit places when they could have collapsed at any time or had wild animals taking refuge there. Many of these dilapidated structures ceased to exist shortly after I visited them to explore and take pictures.
At the time, my parents lived near this area. There was only one way in and one way out and you had to pass by this old abandoned church on every visit to my parent's house.
Next to this church, near Langford Bay Estates, were some modest headstones in a small neglected, cemetery. Not long after this image was taken, while traveling to my parent's home, I noticed the old structure had vanished.
Exploring the Church...
As I started walking across the floor of the old church, camera in hand, a window on the right side suddenly flew up of its own accord. Don't ask me why I didn't high-tail it out of there pronto, but I'm convinced the vibrations I caused while walking triggered the window. When I looked on either side of the window, hanging inside the walls were ropes with counter-weights which at one time would have helped one to more easily raise the window up. Although an unexpected surprise, the experience proved to be a very interesting excursion into this old abandonment.
The original picture was taken with a Konica SLR film camera many years ago during the colder months. I breathed on the lens, aimed, and waited until just enough evaporation before snapping the shutter to obtain the foggy effect.
On an unrelated (I think) but also strange and unusual occurrence, I left my parent's home and was on my way back out to travel to my own home near Baltimore. It was warm weather and I had the windows of the car rolled down since it had no air conditioning. The Eastern Shore of Maryland is pretty much all country, made up of flat farmland. Traveling to and from my parent's residence consisted of roads between fields for much of the trip.
As I was traveling, and incidentally near the area of the old abandoned church, suddenly something from outside shot through the passenger side window. It hit the headrest and in the next instant there were green feathers floating about in my car. When I checked the back seat I found a small dead green bird!
Two things were very odd about this event...
One, the actual occurrence of a bird flying into an open window of the car while I was speeding down the back road.
Two, I had never seen a green bird on the Eastern Shore of MD my whole life growing up there!
For whatever reason, it seemed appropriate to call this event, an OMEN.

DescriptionI had gone around Yosemite Valley twice. Nature was not helping; the sky was blue without any clouds and the ground was only partially covered with snow. The light was harsh. All of a sudden in the end of the afternoon, when I was about to give it up, I saw this beautiful meadow with a cluster of aspen trees partly covered with fog. This was my money shot that day.

I captured candid photos of three men talking on the dock of a museum building at Saint Michaels Maryland during the annual Oyster Festival 11-03-13. I didn't process the image until 3-31-21. I stitched two images together for a slightly wider view, added a texture overlay at 25% opacity, converted it to grayscale, added a subtle vignette, added a sandstone filter and some other pixel manipulations for a little more artistic flare. As one last final touch I also lightly went over the highlights of the clothing with the Dodge Tool to accentuate those features just a bit.

In my garden the cute baby birds of the Eurasian Blue tits - Cyanistes caeruleus - are fledged. The fledglings make a lot of noise and want to be feeded all the time. Meanwhile they are grown and start to copy their parents searching for food. I could spent the whole day watching these cute little animals! I made lots of photos as reference for future paintings. Today I did this pencil drawing of one of these cuties.

Everyone loves to go to a parade. The uniqueness of a parade here in New Orleans, Louisiana is each organization theme changes each year. The floats are designed by float builders. Each parade may have up to 25 plus floats and more with marching bands in-between them. Each float is designed and built around the theme of the parade for that year. And each float is a page turned through a story, or an event.
Standing on a balcony at Royal Street and St. Peter I stretched out looking toward Canal Street. The Mardi Gras parades no longer parade through the French Quarter with the larger floats of today. an ordinance was passed discontinuing the krewes from using the streets due to the narrow streets and 1st responders needing to get to emergency's

Peace Not War
This black and white photo of the 1960s peace symbol is a reminder to promote peace rather than war. It was taken in San Francisco, California during the 50th celebration of the Summer of Love. This large wreath in the shape of a peace sign decorates the doorway of a beautiful mansion. The peace symbol was designed by British graphic artist Gerald Holtom in 1958 to protest nuclear arms. It contains the flag semaphores for "N" and "D" representing nuclear disarmament. It was brought to the U.S. by a civil rights leader where it became a famous icon in hippie American culture and antiwar protests of the 1960s.

A western portrait of Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates, the ramrod on the TV western, Rawhide. I used a western mountain as the background for the superimposed portrait and replaced the sky with a more dynamic one.
I converted this version to grayscale but also have the color and sepia version. I got the idea when watching an episode of Rawhide when the scene transitioned by fading out with a mountain behind "Rowdy".

The Chromonica is a truly classic model of chromatic harmonica - made by the Hohner Company of Germany.
The Chromonica harmonica has a wooden comb, which means that the middle part of the instrument, the basic body of the instrument, is made of wood. Quite often these days, the comb of the harmonica is made of plastic .
There are varying schools of thought about whether it's better to have a wooden comb or a plastic comb - they definitely have their pluses and minuses. Wood, as you can imagine, reacts to humidity and swells and shrinks accordingly, a little bit. Plastic combs on the other hand don't have this problem but may not have the beautiful tone that wood has.
However, the Chromonica has been in production for several decades, and is still a really great instrument. It is not Hohner's "top of the line" anymore, but it is a good reliable instrument that you can get a "classic" sound with, and if taken care of, the Chromonica harmonica can last and be one of your favorite instruments.
The Chromonica comes in various sizes: the 12 hole and the 16 hole models. The 16 hole chromonica has an extra lower octave on the left side of the harmonica, which can be fun, but on the other hand the 12 hole harmonica tends to fit in your hands much better, is lighter, and is easier to hold cupped to a microphone if that is the way you play.
Chromatic harmonicas are designed to play every complete scale in any key -- major, minor, pentatonic, blues, etc. -- all on one instrument. Nevertheless, they can be bought in various keys - the most common by far is the key of C.
A chromatic harmonica theoretically can play in any key because it has as part of its mechanism the ability to play all 12 notes of the "Western" (standard do-re-mi) scale, so that by using the button slide on the side of the chromonica you can build your various scales. But as you can imagine, the various keys start in various places on the scale of western music, such as G typically starting lower than the C scale harmonica.
I have done this version with notes added which progress to the border in an OOF (Out Of Frame) fashion for artistic flair.

He Makes Everything Beautiful In Its Time Black and White
It's hard to imagine when you're living the caterpillar life that one day you'll be a beautiful butterfly. But that's exactly what the Lord does for us. He transforms us day by day as we look to him and patiently endure the trials of life, trusting him to work out everything for our good. The caterpillar was limited to the earth and has to go through a season of struggling to escape its cocoon, but then is rewarded by becoming a beautiful butterfly that is free to fly anywhere. In the same way, our difficulties are the path to transformation and freedom from the things that bind us. "He makes everything beautiful in its time" Ecclesiastes 3:11a
This black swallowtail butterfly was photographed in Parc National de la Gaspesie, Quebec, Canada.
