Abbie, I could not wait to get my hands on this photo, I love it! Unfortunately I ended up having to de-sheep it tho :/

Entry 1 of Abbie Shores' "Edit This Challenge 55". I added amusing signs trying to keep wolves out of the sheep pasture (as if they could read). I added a wolf in sheep's clothing (so to speak) on the road to the entrance with all the warning signs in front of him. I brightened the image and added vibrancy and lightened it a bit.

Brilliant work

This is in Powys, Wales. The sign says it's private land

This is the path to the cottage i stay in when I go away

What a beautiful place, Abbie!
My edit consists of placing some wild animals around the scene. I also added a tree up front on the right for balance, and a pretty red cardinal in the tree on the left with the squirrel under it and an acorn in its paws. This could be a paradise for animals. Then processed with an impressionistic and painterly style in Autumn Fall tones for story book appearance.

Who is ffynnonau and how do you pronounce it?

----Mike Savad

Abbie Shores

Please don't use that on the edit as a keyword. It's the Welsh name of the cottage i stay in. The name is a misspelling of the Welsh word Ffynhonnau - meaning fountains, springs or wells. The spring comes down the hill and passes through the cottage garden

Pronounced Fin on ah

Mike Savad

I wasn't planning on that, i'm just snooping...

Susan Maxwell Schmidt

I was just about to ask you if you spoke Gaelic, Abbie. It is hard... very hard. There are just some letters that were never meant to be put together; Gaelic finds all of them and then doubles down by repeating them four times in the same word.

Slainte! Yeah, that's the extent of my Gaelic capabilities.

Jack Torcello

ysgryfenu to write, llyfr book, dysgu to work, cysgu to sleep, darllen to read etc

Gaelic/Gallic - its the spelling which floors me - so many unspoken letters... thair dhom do labh, cunneis a thain thu ...

Susan Maxwell Schmidt

I'm pretty sure somebody just banged on a keyboard and called it Gaelic.

Welcome Home!

It's early morning on the farm and the chickens are awake, the rooster is crowing and the sheep are happily grazing on the grassy hillside pastures. There is a golden glow in the air as the sun rises on this peaceful pastoral scene. It is a place you want to come home to, with the big old stone barn just inside the gate. Further down the private road is the big farm house where mama is busy getting lunch ready for papa while he is on his way out with the dogs to round up the sheep. It is shearing day and he must get the wool ready for market.

Picking your own pumpkins, in the country, is one of the best parts of fall. Getting away from the city noise and just relaxing on a bumpy road in a rural setting is great. Never mind the pumpkins jumping out of the back, the joy is picking them up in the first place. And technically picking them off the road where they landed is just as much fun as how you got them before.

By now you are cursing yourself for choosing the biggest ones, all because you had to show off to that other family that you could lift those large orange gourds. The other guy had to of course one up you, and then you had to one up him. And before you knew it, you took all the pumpkins and your back is aching, but you know you won that little contest.

Now you have too many pumpkins and you don't have a single use for them, because all you wanted to do was really just to drive in the country, and now you are picking them all back up again, while looking up the name for a chiropractor.

Are these wanna-be shepherds? No, they are families on their way to visit the sheep in the field. It will be quite a walk but well worth it. It's worth it for many reasons. The grandparents can explain all about sheep, shepherds...you know..sort of a bit of education for the grands. The adults especially will marvel at the gorgeous view and maybe point out all of the beautiful sights to the kids.

I have not done any new artwork in a very long time. When I saw the contest I decided to try out my new upgraded software.

1st image: I actually reversed the image. Then I painted it with an application that resembles the old west. I removed the sign on the fence.

2nd image: I cut the image down and intensified the color with beautiful rich greens and a vibrant sky. I created an out of frame application using a colorful striking backdrop.

3rd image: I removed the tree and set it against a painting I did digitally. Like people who sometimes feel like they don't fit in, their uniqueness makes them special. I chose the blue cast to create the idea that even though it does not belong in the area, the blue hues gives it a unique reason to be there. You can't help but want to take a second look. I chose to blur the background of the painting just a touch to give the image a softness.

Horseback riders out to ride around the sheep farm. There is a stables nearby and they have permission to ride the land and especially enjoy going this time of year in fall. Wish I could really ride this, just a very beautiful image you gave to us, Abbie!!!

I'm sorry but the tree just looked too much like broccoli to me so I had to steam it with some carrots, onions, and cauliflower. See if you can spot both tree tops!
