On a related note. Would anyone be interested in a shared Pinterest board? How that works...

1. Anyone who's interested would state so here.
2. I'd create a shared board that anyone from step one can contribute to.
3. When it appears on your Pinterest homepage, click accept.
4. Anyone who clicks accept can contribute to the shared board.

What's in it for you? Glad you asked! If someone clicks on this shared board when visiting my page, they might be looking for "photos of San Francisco" or "Native American Art" or "Japanese Anime," none of which I have. (Now). This will allow my visitors to click over to your page to see what you have. At the same time, if visitors to your boards are looking for "Photography of East Europe" or "Digital Art," this will allow them to click over to my page.

Thanks Lynn, for sharing my Cairn terrier art. They are adorable dogs! One thing I've done on Pinterest is create some "art show" boards where I share art I like which goes with a certain theme. You can see them on my pinterest page: http://pinterest.com/jaisjewels/ I've made 6 art shows so far - they're on the bottom row of boards at my link. At lot of people are repinning the pumpkins from my pumpkin art show right now. Basically I just pick a theme and go through FAA to find art that matches the theme and has a "Pin It" button visible under the art. Those are the ones I pin as I have time.

Richard, Dan just mentioned that Sean will have to put it in the code like google analytics. I've asked beth in the other thread to weigh in.

To add the Pinterest button on you artwork here go to behind the scene and look for the Marketing Section. The second row of that section, fourth button in (mine shows the G+ button) are the share buttons. Click it and then check or uncheck which buttons you want to share.

Any Image can be copied from pininterest and CHANGED in any Program. Why would any Artist that spends years working on their Art risk this? pininterest is a site that should be avoided by any Artist that cares about their hard work.

Dan Turner I went to your pininterest page & it is so easy to copy your Work & then alter the Image. I mean you have been an Artist a long time so I would assume you care that anyone can copy your Work from pininterest. I know I care that my Hard Work is not easily copied which is the reason I would never use any site that allows copying.

Right click - Save As, Long Touch - Save Image, almost all devices that connect to the Internet allow one to save graphics.
This site is no exception in allowing the SAVE IMAGE option as is Pinterest, and the vast majority of Internet sites.

Hello Jean and all of the fellow Pinterest people - I have spent hours (so FUN) going through everyone's links and "following" all of you - I hope you can reciprocate ... we are promoting each other and thanks for the thread, Jean - this thread is not for the naysayers, it is for we who believe we can share our art with others and put it out there and bring some response to our FAA pages with exposure to our work - simple - but also we have "boards" that share a bit of ourselves and our interests and kinda fun to share bits of what we find interesting and unique and pass it around - don't know about you, but I sure don't get outta the house much and this is a great way to see things and explore a bit of the world and what is out there - that is basically all it is to me - a bulletin board with pinned items that are of interest to me and you like them... some of them are mine and some of them are things I like - and you re-pin the ones you like too - easy - if your art is on the internet, it is going to be passed around anyway ...if you upload your photos just do them low res 72 dpi at 4x6 or 5x7 and put the link back to where they originated, you will get clicks back or re-pins and "likes" and your art will be shared - it is just promotion - so YAY for all of you (man there are some great pins you all have - it took me hours and hours to get through them all) but if we promote each other, it will be good

I decided that the best use of Pinterest for me is to focus on my wedding products from Zazzle because I already do pretty with them at Zazzle and this would give them more exposure.

I've decided not to pin my artwork myself but put the Pinterest button back on so they can be pinned by someone else if they want. I've already found my work on Pinterest anyway, a lot without any link back to me. At least this was, hopefully, the link will be preseved.

Before I get shouted at...

Can I just make one observation that I see a lot on Pinterest that makes looking at some of your pins a bit pointless.

If you don't bother to credit yourselves, no one is going to find you, or know that the artwork is yours. And always make sure your links go back to a website or your own pages.

I've just looked at some of your artwork from the addresses on here and half I have passed by, largely because you have no explanations or credit notes by your work! How do I know they are yours?

So often I see a pins that just simply has .... on it! Remember guys, these are YOUR pins to help YOU advertise YOUR work! SELL YOURSELF :D

@Ifour... My observation is that, the artists usually adds a description and credit when pinning their own work.

BUT, other's that pin someone else's work does not.... I wish each pin could have a default description that is automatically added, even it it only has the title and artist name...

All images are linked to source, in our case FAA or AW depending on which site it's pinned from. btw if you pin from AW the image is linked directly back to the image page.
If you use FAA site, it goes to FAA.... but your pin count on the AW side does not add to the pin number on the FAA side.... hope that's clear as mud.

As ifour mentioned it is a good idea to put a description in the description area, and for your own and other's artwork you should always at least include [TITLE OF WORK] by [Artist's Name] in the description area. I never liked how Pinterest put a banner over the artwork so I never included a price on my work. Now that they have stopped doing that I going to test adding a starting price in the description.
