I have spent the last couple of weeks adding all my print collections, over 400 now.
You can view them here: http://roseanne-jones.artistwebsites.com/
How many images do you have?

I have over 700 images, not very easy to organize them here. Wish to have some easy way to do so.

I have 1238 fairly good items on FAA as of this moment. I have 13,620 half way decent items on Flickr which I also use to back up my images.

52 but I'm fairly new here - I have a lot more photographs to put up... actually have approx 25k images (but some duplicates and rubbish ones) in my Lightroom catalogue but I need 'rests' in-between lol plus lots of other work I'm suppose to be doing - if I ever made a sale I would probably go nuts and upload like mad :-)
the catch is though, if you don't have a large stock of very nice images, you may not get a sale. a small amount means you don't take up much room on the site and your less likely to come up in the search. i have lots of images at home also, probably well over a 100k but not all of them are great. only great ones are posted. otherwise it's hard to go through. kind of like those stock sites with 30,000 images.

about 1020 photos if memory serves.

Around 210 here, almost 1500 on my other site. Working on migrating the others here, as they seem to get far more exposure here

I am very new just 22 images, but more to come. want to make sure that you guys get my best stuff.

135 here but I try to be picky about which ones I put on the site. I keep adding though. :-)

I would probably have more on here but I have found the procedure for adding images on FAA to be very time consuming and labor intensive, especially the multi-uploading feature. It's actually easier to do one at a time but it's still a slow process. I think this is the way they want it however.
I am 9 shy of 600 as of right now, although I do have literally thousands more to upload. I take TONS of pictures of cars and don't always have time to properly 'prepare' them for upload. Some day I will have thousands on here.....

I am not shooting for really BIG numbers. I do have lots more images than the measly few that I have listed currently at FAA. Soon I will start adding more images systematically to increase my stash. I understand the arguments for huge numbers, but I really do not see myself going beyond a few hundred or so.
I thought of starting a thread to ask the question: "What is the optimum number of images to have at FAA?" But I guess this thread is as good as any to raise the specific question.
So, what IS the optimum number? ... 100, ... 500, ... 1000, ... 2000, ... ?
the optimum?
90 million.
slowly getting there.
there are no set amounts, there's a person here that has 2 images, jesus and mary. and that's all they sell, i think they used to have 6. i guess they felt it added too much confusion. it all depends on the subject. if you upload 900 images of a family vacation, it's not the same as 10 shots that are really well done.
the more you have the better your chances that something should sell. that something should peak an interest. it's more important to have quality and variety, than big numbers. big numbers come in slowly.

Robert, I don't believe people have a priority of "shooting for really BIG numbers". I believe they are uploading their best stuff and probably have many they consider lesser quality waiting in the wings. The numbers simply rise because they have uploaded what they consider to be their better images.

Brian,
I agree about the multi-uploader. I find it to be cumbersome and unreliable. Too many times, I upload 5 images and 3 fail to upload. I only do the single now.
Is there too much good stuff? No matter how good all our stuff is, still should we put a lid on uploads after so many, and then start rotating?
90 million, Mike? Only two more to go, and then you're done. (^_^)

more is always better. that's the general rule. something for everyone. and as long it's worded right, they will find it.

28 plus a couple silly photos
I do plan to get another dozen or so uploaded here in the next few weeks though.
I reached over 250 images just recently. I may take a closer look and thin a few out, haven't decided yet. I do know from my experience here on FAA the number of images doesn't equate to more sales. I have seen some artists with a few images on here sell one quite often and well. I am becoming more selective and careful with the images I do upload, making sure they are quality and appeal to a larger audience.
the people who sell often either have a body of work that looks really good. or they advertise really well. they may also have clients who buy from them. the less you have to offer the less sales you'll get. i sell often, you can judge by me if you want. i wouldn't base the amount you have and compare it to other people because you don't know what their circumstances are. like the person that sells mary and jesus - they only have 2. that's it's, just 2. but they could have all the churches buy from that one person.

Only 29 so far, about 1/2 a year in.
All of my works are paintings though, they tend to accumulate a little slower than photographs.
Still, I agree with Mike that 1) bulk helps, the more you have to offer, the likelier someone likes something you make,
and 2) marketing (which I do not do very well yet) helps a ton as well. And quality too, I think.
76, I've been here five years or so. My drawings usually take 2-4 weeks each, so I don't produce many.
there are hundreds of millions of images on the web. How ever many you have is in the realm of irrelevant . Quality and uniqueness and "does it go with the rest of my stuff", or "I remember being there" are what's important. Another big factor is who do you know, and who sees your work.
I now have 258 - I've been on FAA 11 months now. I've been trying to upload 1 new image per day plus do all the fun marketing crap.
I've purged my portfolio twice in the last 4 months and eliminated perhaps 150-200 images. I'm back up to 441 images with a bunch awaiting processing and uploading. I should surpass 500 soon.
Maybe 35......oh well, I can only do the best I can do. I guess I can throw in a picture of the dog and cat and the neked guy from the park.
Does anyone look at anything past page 5? Who has that kind of patience? Maybe a random, 5, 10 15, or something. I would seriously have to love your work to go past page 10. FAA is a place to store(dump) I guess.

About 380. Been pulling some as I go along.
I have tons and Canon wants me to replace my shutter as I shot 1 Million pix with just one camera since 2007 - yes thats right
do I post that many, no
I figured if I upload one a day I get to roughly 350 uploads per year - give or take a few
it is all relative and like Mike says, only worth having the best up and some of what I take is not suitable for here, good images but too client driven
11 Years Ago
My mainly photographic archive is 100,000 images, I have about 700 in my portfolio here, uploaded over the last 9 months, which "catches me up", but I've done very little shooting.
29 I think, but I have a lot in my files that I consider mediocre, or less than that. I tend to save lots of shots that probably should just be deleted. Broke my foot a month ago, so have been unable to get out and shoot anything new. Gettin' cabin fever!
I've only been here a few months so I'm only up to 139. I really need to get to work next year.
I am only at 73.
I try to make an effort to upload at least 3 images each day but it only lasted for one week due to my busy schedule (ok ... its an excuse!)
I shall try harder this year :)

Update
I do have a few pieces in my van that I intend to photo and increase my number from the current 2
11 Years Ago
Someone just suggested I would do better if I kept closer to 100 of my best images and only a handful of galleries, otherwise I'm confusing the buyers. I know I need to do another culling but I've found my views are going up as my portfolio grows. Would I be better if I do cull out 50-60% of my images?
that kind of advice just pares down competition. you are not confusing buyers, but if your folders are cluttered or there are too many of the same thing in different colors, that can be confusing. thing is, you don't know which images are your best because your worst, might be someone's favorite, and the one they were planning on buying when they got that bonus. never erase, only upload your best. i make sales most of the time and i have quite a bit more then you do. they aren't confused. more choices is always better.
marketing to the right people, and having thumbnails worthy of clicking - that's what you want.

I have 1028- but I definitely need to do some housecleaning (my portfolio and my house.... :)
I have 13 here at present and 3 wip's, all painted in the last 8 months after a 30+ year hiatus. I agree with Mike that a larger portfolio probably leads to increased chances for sales... but personally, partly because I am sooooo slow, I will never have a large portfolio and comparing the size of a painters portfolio to a photographers just does not compute. I don't know the statistics...and don't need to... but there are probably a lot more photographic images sold here than paintings if for no other reason than the sheer numbers that a buyer could choose from.
