Sales? Selling?

I wish I could sell something. I'm starting to loose a little faith in this site. I've had my work up for about 2 months now and I've basically have used word of mouth and every social media outlet that I could think of to get noticed. I've even lowered my price a few times. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what else I can do to get noticed and start selling my work? Am I not using this site to it's full potential? How do you get your work into the "featured " section? Thanks

2 months is not that long, it takes longer for google to take hold of you. lowering your prices cheapens your work and it usually doesn't help attract sales, i've gotten more by raising them. advertising is good, but only if you have people on those sites to see it. you have to make sure you have a lot of friends there.

work is featured in groups if you submit them to groups and they like it. to get featured on the front page it has to sell and sean has to like it.

you have a total of 31 images which is a tiny drop compared to your competition. what i'm seeing in that bunch are well, kind of overcooked hdr.

Art Prints
this lighthouse shouldn't glow. there aren't that many keywords and some are questionable - like family - you need to add plurals and break downs. like light, house, lighthouses, houses, sunsets, sunrise, sunrises - etc. and the colors. you have to vote for yourself and get others to do the same. there are groups for that. i don't see a 1 next to google plus, meaning that it doesn't look like your using that one.

Art Prints
no one will find this listed as flower, and i'm not sure who it's targeted for. the keywords list things like thorn and blackandwhite - no one will type it as one word. there's also no description, this makes it harder for google to find you.

one question you always have to ask is - who am i making this for? and would i hang this on my own wall?

Sell Art Online
this one is pretty good, lack of keywords, no description, it has one view since august tells me that your not advertising these in any way. you have to push each image out to people so they can see it. you have to put these into as many groups as you can find. being active in the forum helps also. i don't see any bricks in that photo, not sure why that's there.

i would redo the bio so it reads about what kind of work to expect to see here, and not as much about your background. i would change the avatar to something less cliche, something with your whole face in it. you need many more images. but more so your themes are all over the place. they aren't targeted to anyone in particular. so it's hard to really shop there.

your groups don't have that many images in them. you should have at least 10 for a group otherwise the user has to back out and go to the next one, which is time consuming.

you also have to make sure your images have good thumbnail appeal. you want people to, want to click on these. would you see your own images if grouped up with others - is there something about them that will make someone want to click there? it's all about the final quality of the image and if it appeals. not everyone will have sell worthy things, but it will always be an uphill battle. you have to upload way more, (i send 25 things every 2-3 weeks i have almost 2000 images here). i'm your competition. and push, push, push.

Howdy Brian and welcome.

Mike gives some of the best sales advice on here and is right on ITT.

As said two months is not all that long and 31 images is not a lot. Not that you HAVE to have a lot of images. Run a search for Charlotte North Carolina. The top search result will likely make that artist more money this year than my 1200 will make me and he has 8 images on here. BUT, 1.) it is really unique and well done. 2.) He promotes the snot out of it.

That said, numbers help. You have 31 images total where I have 24 in my Boston gallery alone. Within that folder, I have sold four images in a year. I have 38 images in my macro gallery. I have sold TWO dragonfly cards in 18 months. Florals, I have 39 images and have sole ONE print in 18 months. I broke it down this way to compare apples to apples. With the number of images you have it is tough to make consistent sales especially in more saturated genres like florals or dragonflies or Boston. (Though, Boston is not nearly as saturated as NYC.)

To make sales consistently try and expand your portfolio and also focus on areas/searches that are not overly saturated on here. If you can get your image on page three of a search, and it is good, it has a chance to sell.

Yea there's sales here. November and December is when it really picks up for the Holiday shoppers, your sales may start up then and you can build on it for the following years. And like others have said, you need more stuff.

and because the holiday's are coming up, it's really prudent to really push the images up here.

Wow thanks for the advice. I'm a newbie here and I don't want to sound like I'm whining becuase I haven't sold anything yet. I was just looking for advice as far as the website. Was I not using it to its full potential? Is there something I could do different? I will take this advice and change around a few things. As far as my work I don't feel like I need to change the particular editing or style. That's what makes me an artist and what makes me different. My work is not for everyone. Thanks for the advice and help.
