Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Artist's Description

Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze was a renowned German-American artist best known for his historic paintings. He was born on May 24, 1816, in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, and grew up in a family of artists. His father was a sculptor, and his stepfather was a painter, so he was exposed to art from an early age.

In 1825, Leutze's family emigrated to the United States, settling in Philadelphia. He began his formal artistic training in 1834 at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and later went to Europe to continue his studies. He spent several years in Germany and Italy, where he honed his skills and gained inspiration from the great masters.

Leutze's most famous painting is "Washington Crossing the Delaware," which depicts General George Washington leading his troops across the icy Delaware River during the American Revolutionary War. The painting was completed in 1851 and became an instant icon, representing the spirit of American perseverance and determination.
