Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
Jean D'Alembert (1717- 1783). Historical artwork of the French mathematician Jean le Rond D'Alembert. D'Alembert graduated from Mazarin College, Paris, France, in 1735 and was admitted to the Academy of Sciences in 1741. He investigated gravitational theory, particularly the precession of the equinoxes. D'Alembert was a pioneer of the study of differential equations and their application in physics. This led him to study the equilibrium and motion of fluids. He sponsored both Lagrange and Laplace who completed this work. He worked on the great encyclopaedia of Diderot, writing the introduction and many of its mathematics and physics articles. Published in 'Lives of men of letters and science' by Henry Brougham, in 1846.
