So charming! Love the mother whistling at the birds and the little boy boy all dressed for school. It looks like his shoelace is untied (like all little boys - LOL), and even the donkey seems to be enjoying the trip to school. V/F I did go to the web sites you recommended and spent some time "visiting" Haiti. What a lovely visit it was - "Pearl of the Caribbean" indeed:>)
Nicole Jean-Louis replied:
I am pleased you enjoyed the website about "Haiti the Caribbean Pearl". I am also glad that you noticed the mother whistling at the birds. Yes, Carol, his shoe lace is untied. Thank you so much, Carol, for such a delightful comment.

Nicole~I had to come back to this, one of my favorites on FAA. I absolutely love it. The donkey is especially wonderful for me and I love the shimmery colors you have achieved. This donkey is a gift of God!

I love this Nicole....your style is so colorful, expressive and full of culture and shows the love you have for Haiti. How I would have loved to go to school in this way. :-)

Really nice Nicole, it reminds me of our visit to Los Plains in Venezuela where all of the children rode donkeys to school. It was a wonderful time for me.

This made me smile at first glance! I am guessing that you have experienced this scene many times. The easy pace is evident in the patient look of the donkey, so we have time to "look around" at the details in the very bright sunlight and the air and in the trees. The foliage and earth are wonderfully done! The blue dress on the mother is a beautiful focal point -- ALL is done with so much love and care! Great job!
Nicole Jean-Louis replied:
Welcome to my site, Jane! You had perfectly discerned the mood that I want to convey in that painting. Thank you very much, Jane.
