Hundreds of Snow Geese wake up in southwest New Mexico at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge at sunrise on a chilly morning during the Festival Of The Cranes. The sky is blue with lavender and peach colored clouds. The geese are silhouetted against the rippling water and there are four geese flying above the sun peeking just above the horizon. Bosque contains the foothills of the Chupadera and San Pascual Mountains, as well as Rio Grande floodplain and irrigated farms and wetlands. Bosque is home to tens of thousands of migratory birds during the winter months.
