California Fires was inspired by the many fires we have here during the famous Santa Ana Winds. The winds can howl up to 100 miles per hour (160 km per hour) and the humidity often drops to 1%. As I write this update for this painting, we are in fact having Santa Ana Winds and the humidity now is 3%. Temperatures rise--even at night--coming with the strong winds from North East, the High Desert areas. Each year hundreds--sometimes thousands--of homes are lost and often lives are also fall victims to the flames. This painting is in honor of the firemen and firewomen of California. Earnings from this painting will be donated to the local fire department in Anaheim, Orange County, California, in full.
