Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
I was driving to see a friend in the hospital and the fog was getting thicker by the moment. There was some farm equipment parked in a field and the symbolism of the farming way of life and the the mists of time closing in and obscuring it seemed both clear and poignant. Although many farms in our area are being preserved, many more are not.
This picture was taken January 4, 2015, in Naceville, Pennsylvania. I used my trusty Olympic Tough, always in my purse to use in those moments when the big camera is at home. This picture is straight from the camera.
I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....

Reminds me of my home state of Indiana....love this foggy farm scene.
Carol Senske replied:
There is something so basic about farms. I hate to see them sold to developers, but the way of life is tough and, although most farmers wouldn't change it, there is commitment needed (and cash) and dedication. God bless the farmers! Thanks foir visiting, Gary:>)

I like the fog and how it makes the photo soft and very pleasing to the eye. A great shot. Also it looks like the same machine I drove for the last couple of years.

:>) Driving one of these monsters must be fun (unless you HAVE to do it, then, probably, more like work). Thank you for your visit and wonderful comment!!!
