The print is much darker in person. It looks like an underexposed photo and hard to make out any detail on the bottom half of the print. Paper quality is good. Fast shipping.
Artist's Description
This painting was completed entirely on location at a point on Lime Creek Canyon road between Silverton and Durango, Colorado. Why would it be a good idea to spend two weeks at this spot? There was two feet of snow across the road making it impassable. The mountain seen at this viewpoint is Twilight Peak, a thirteener, that is, it is over 13,000 feet elevation. You can also see a view similar to this one from Coal Bank Pass on the road above here which is the paved route between Silverton and Durango. An old narrow gauge railroad takes you up to Silverton from Durango along the Animas River which is on the other side of Twilight Peak, that is, to the east of this view. A special thanks to the San Juan National Forest Service in Pagosa Springs and Durango for providing maps and other useful information during my painting excursions in the area.
