The print is much darker in person. It looks like an underexposed photo and hard to make out any detail on the bottom half of the print. Paper quality is good. Fast shipping.

Image taken from page 254 of "An Illustrated History of the New World containing a general history of all the various nations, states, and republics of the Western Continent. Comprising the earliest discoveries. An account of the American Indians, and a complete history of the United States to the present times" by John Ledyard Denison, 1873. Massasoit Sachem or Ousamequin (1581 - 1661) was the leader of the Wampanoag Confederacy. According to English sources, Massasoit prevented the failure of Plymouth Colony and the almost certain starvation that the Pilgrims faced during the earliest years of the colony's establishment. He forged critical political and personal ties with the colonial leaders John Carver, Stephen Hopkins, Edward Winslow, William Bradford, and Miles Standish - ties which grew out of a negotiated peace treaty on March 22, 1621.
