Description
"Morgan Horse"is an original fine art equine photograph by Sandra Huston.
I was looking through my archives and found this photograph of a Morgan Stallion named Kennebec Charis standing in his pasture. This is a great photograph showing the classic look of a Morgan's profile with a refined and chiseled head, short well shaped ears and a strong neck. A Morgan horse also has a distinctively compact body with strong but refined legs.
Honored to be featured in the following Fine Art Americas group:

Fun Facts:
The founding stallion of the breed was a horse named Figure, owned by a schoolteacher who lived in Vermont in the late 1700s, named Justin Morgan. No one knows with certainty what Figures pedigree was, but its felt that he was the offspring of horses with Arabian and Thoroughbred and perhaps Welsh Cob or Friesian bloodlines. As people heard of the elegant little Figures ability to out-pull and out-distance any other horse, combined with his calm and intelligent disposition, he became a desirable stallion to breed to in the New England states. It was found that Figure passed these qualities on to his offspring, no matter what mare he was bred to. The Morgan became the ultimate all-purpose horse, equally at home in fine harness, on the race track, doing work in fields, or under saddle. Figure, eventually known by his owners name, Justin Morgan also contributed his qualities to breeds such as the Canadian, Saddlebred, Tennessee Walking Horse, American Standardbred and American Quarter Horse.
