The print is much darker in person. It looks like an underexposed photo and hard to make out any detail on the bottom half of the print. Paper quality is good. Fast shipping.
Artist's Description
This painting was inspired by a photo that I took over 20 years ago of my father tilling the land. The scene reminded me of something from a Monet or Van Gogh painting. The dogwood was mature and so expressive while in bloom. Just under the land was being tilled for new growth. The image spoke to me not only for its aesthetic value but also the symbolic quality of the family tree or liniage ...honoring the old while creating conditions for the new.

As a self-taught traditional painter, I strive to create images that have both visual interest and greater depth beyond the canvas. In the spirit of the artisan way of life, I try to honor both the creative process and the subject matter when painting. It is my hope that I can balance my own creative expression with the inherent attributes of the particular subject being expressed.
