This was a great day for crashing waves, and wind-tossed foam! The waves were coming in high for New Jersey, and I love it when they crash so high on the rocks! I painted this using a palette knife, and working from a reference photo I took at Bradley Beach, New Jersey. I used brushes for finishing, especially in the waves.

I was born in Louisiana, and spent my early childhood moving from state to state until settling in New Jersey in third grade. My leanings toward art were placed on the back burner while I focused on high school, college, and making a living. Then, my artistic impulses came out--I painted a tropical island paradise in the garage as a consolation for rained out picnics. Hence, at the advanced age of 48, I began my art training. I continue to learn by doing, creating paintings from scenes that inspire me.
