I loved the card. Message inside was perfect (just like I requested) Only comment - the picture seemed too large for the card (glue showing on the side) Next time I will down size the picture. I have ordered many cards from fineartamerica and have been very pleased with the artist selection and quality of the art. Paul Cutright

When coal was king is not that long ago if measured by generations. Todays generation of miners are beset with layoffs, company mismanagement leading to bankruptcy, a glut of natural gas driving power plants to switch to the cheaper alternative, concerns about the environment and the sometimes deliberate inattention to safety.
The predecessors of todays miners would tell you of the sacrifices made by so many doing one of the worlds most difficult and dangerous jobs. Nearly every miners family could tell you of someone who died in a mine or was severely injured. Not to mention the likelihood of suffering from Black Lung Disease. In 1987 The recorded number of individuals that died at mining operations over the years since anthracite mining first occurred reached 31,088.
When coal was king, states like West Virginia, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania saw their populations swell with the influx of workers eager to support their families. These new workers needed everything th...
My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...

This is reminiscent of the 1930s style Pacific Northwest Art -- a visit of nostalgia to a time, as you observe, that wasn't that long ago.

Thank you Steve, I will have to check that out as I'm not familiar with it.
